Recently, I was researching penetration testing. I reinstalled VMware, which I hadn’t used for a long time, and downloaded kali2022 to play. However, in the actual use process, I found that the network often had problems, unstable, and sometimes the domain name could not be resolved. At first I thought it was a domain name service. The DNS is not configured properly, but I am using a dynamic IP... Shouldn’t the automatic configuration be done by the virtual machine in one stop? After researching, I found that the network speed will be faster after setting it manually.
Here is the speed test result after repair
The network is Gigabit broadband of China Telecom (measured at about 900Mbps), and the NAT mode of the virtual machine can be divided into a small 300M, which is not bad, and it is also suitable for daily use, so I will no longer study the loss of network speed and performance
Solution process:
How to solve it, here we are going to configure it in the virtual network editor
First select Change Settings at the bottom right (with administrator privileges)
After agreeing, the correct virtual network configuration will be displayed. Here we select the NAT mode column, and then click
NAT settings, then select DNS settings, modify the DNS configuration directory in the virtual network gateway
You can see that at the beginning it was selected above by default: Automatically detect available DNS servers
But sometimes it’s not easy to use automatic or something, let’s configure it manually here
Pay attention to the bottom, you can fill it up or just fill in one or two lines. As for the DNS you choose, you can choose the DNS server deployed in the intranet if you have an intranet environment.
After modification, the speed measurement can solve the problem~
