The BSV Blockchain Association and the BSV Blockchain Academy are proud to announce a new partnership with financial company CapitalSavvy to bring the Blockchain Innovation Program (BIP) to developers in Uganda and the rest of East Africa.

The Blockchain Innovation Program is a 10-week course designed to encourage more people to become Bitcoin developers. The BSV Blockchain Academy is offering its services to all partners interested in incorporating this innovative blockchain initiative into their own collection of educational tools. One of the association's partners is Ugandan venture capital firm CapitalSavvy, which is trying to provide jobs to local developers.

The first batch of about 50 students in this program will be developers from Uganda, and they will also have the opportunity to promote their ideas to the Satoshi Block Dojo. At the end of the 10-week program, the developers with the best proposals will be selected to join the incubator.
“Our target group is young entrepreneurs who are tech-savvy and have some experience with JavaScript etc. We hope that through a 10-week program, we will introduce them to the core modules so that they can learn some skills and work on the BSV blockchain. development projects.” CapitalSavvy CEO and founder Reginald Tumusiime said, “On the one hand, the BSV Blockchain Association provides us with very practical modules to teach these entrepreneurs the correct core development skills. On the other end there are Satoshi Block Dojo, they can tap the capabilities of entrepreneurs to some extent and provide them with further support and funding.”

What does the Blockchain Innovation Program bring to developers in Uganda?

Tumusiime said the program will be fully online, with all students having access to a learning portal developed by the BSV Blockchain Academy. In addition to online learning, there will also be an offline exchange meeting every two weeks, where students will have the opportunity to meet some of the course instructors and conduct live Q&A.

The program is sponsored by CapitalSavvy, the BSV Blockchain Association, and the Satoshi Block Dojo, and students only need to pay a $50 application fee. Tumusiime added that the team's current plan is for the program to become self-sustaining and expand to other East African regions beyond Uganda in the future.

This program consists of three courses currently launched by the BSV Blockchain Academy, including:

  • hash function
  • Merkle tree
  • digital signature

Julie Gaudreau, project manager for the BSV Blockchain Association Technical Standards Committee (TSC) and technical projects department, said the program will also offer a new introductory course on bitcoin development.

While the course is open to everyone, having basic programming knowledge will help as the Golang and JavaScript languages will be used throughout the course. Students also need to have a basic understanding of how bitcoin works, Gaudreau said. Students will receive a certificate each time they complete a course, and will also receive a full set of certificates issued by the BSV Blockchain Academy when the course is completed.

Nurturing the next generation of BSV developers

Tumusiime says the first 50 developers will be able to use the skills they learn to start their own businesses or join other companies.

“Globally, the specialized skills to be able to program on a specific blockchain are still scarce. We are constantly outsourcing these functions to others, so as actual practical examples of blockchain continue to land on a global scale, anyone Everyone will have the opportunity to meet these needs." He said, "The change of working from home has also led to the globalization of talent. People who were in Uganda, Kenya or other parts of East Africa did not have the opportunity to work for other regions before, but now the opportunity Coming. With these specialized skills, we believe these individuals will have the opportunity to enter the employer's radar."

The BSV blockchain was chosen by the team because few other protocols focus on enterprise-grade solutions, Tumusiime said. He added that a lot of work has been done on the BSV blockchain in order to be able to adapt to different enterprise sizes and provide a suitable environment for enterprises.

The program will kick off on September 2 with an in-person meetup, with an official start date set for October 3. You can learn more about the Blockchain Innovation Program here .

At present, more than 400 projects around the world have been built on the BSV blockchain. With the rock-solid protocol and ultra-high network performance, the BSV ecosystem is developing rapidly, and we look forward to more unprecedented commercial applications in the future.
