How to master the basics of zbrush software

Hello everyone! I am the master of up: basic modeling

I compiled some knowledge, I hope it can help everyone

1. Basic introduction

ZBrush software is a digital sculpting and painting software

It has revolutionized the entire 3D industry with its powerful functions and intuitive workflow.

In one clean interface, ZBrush provides the contemporary digital artist with the world's most advanced tools.

The combination of functions developed with practical ideas, while stimulating the creativity of artists, ZBrush produces a user experience, which will feel very smooth during operation.

ZBrush is capable of sculpting models up to 1 billion polygons, so the limit is only up to the artist's own imagination.

Simply put

When ZBrush is saved, it is a picture. To maintain the editability of 3D objects, it must be saved as a brush.

And these basic operations: the basic structure of the interface, view operations, import models, etc., everyone will not talk about it

The main talk is: details of engraving, some main functions and shortcut keys, etc.

2. Details

The basic character model created by 3DsMax is entered into the ZBrush software to refine and sculpt details.

ZBrush has a unique Z sphere modeling tool, which can quickly generate surface meshes through the establishment of Z spheres

This Z-sphere modeling tool can do the basic model of any creature type, this is the first magical function.

Another amazing function of ZBrush, ZSketch, is a special tool for ZB to make conceptual sketch models.

By drawing countless "caterpillars" to accumulate the volume structure on the surface of the model, you can also observe the silhouette state of the model and the preview of the sketch mesh at any time.

The type of mask can be changed in the Alpha menu

The following are some English analysis

Open in PS

【Edit Curve】-- Edit the brush intensity curve
【Focal Shift】-- softening value
【Smooth】-- smooth and relax the mesh
【Draw Size】--Brush size
【InflatDot】-- dot expansion
【Z Intensity】-- brush strength
【Stretch】-- Expand to the size of the canvas
【Actual】-- actual size
【Invr】-- reverse phase
【Mrgb】-- Give the current material and color
【Rgb】-- Give color
【Rgb Intensity】-- Transparency
【Zadd】-- increase thickness
【Zsub】-- reduce thickness

3. Function

1. Topology Brush

Provides manual control of topology generation. When you want precise control over topology routing

ZBrush's optimized curve engine lets you draw new polygons instantly.

After simple editing on the base surface, new polygons can be generated immediately, with or without thickness.

Create fittings that conform to the shape, have thickness or redesign part surfaces

2. Mesh Fusion model fusion

This function can surround the surface of the model, with any other topologically routed objects

Automatically bridges to polygons to produce seamless models.

Simply define PolyGroups on your model and replace those regions with new models

ZBrush will composite these new components into the base model by combining the models at the borders.

3. Grid System

Can be applied to ZBrush Grids.

Load pictures from front, side and top views, making it easier to generate models from reference pictures.

Even with ShadowBox, different pictures can even be assigned to the opposite plane, generating a reference hexahedron.

Besides that, the model could even simply have textured planes snapped to the background, so when the camera moves the reference still follows.

4. UndoHistory reply action history list

Can have unlimited undo ability

5. TransPose Enhancements enhanced posture change function

Provides a choice of world axes, which can be switched to any workplane orientation.

Just one click, or stick the Action Line to the surface hairline.

Additionally, the new Bloat and Flatten features are especially useful for modeling hard-edged sculptures.

6. DynaMesh Enhancements enhanced DynaMesh

Can increase the resolution to 2048, can merge SubTools through DynaMesh

Even define specific SubTools as negative volumes.

4. Commonly used shortcut keys

【W】--Move mode 【S】-- Drawing size
【E】-- zoom mode 【M】-- mark object
【R】--rotate mode 【T】-- edit mode
【H】-- Hide/show Zscript window  【C】-- Pick the color under the pointer
【Q】-- Drawing indicator (default is all tools)
【+】-- Enlarge document 【- 】-- Zoom out the document
【Ctrl】-- mask function 【I RGB】-- Intensity
【focal Shift】-- Change the curve decay speed
[Shift+d]--Hide the grid lines on the model when drawing textures
【Shift+I】--Z Intensity
【Shift+s】-- backup object
[Ctrl+Shift+drag+release (Ctrl, Shift)]-- the selected part will be hidden
[Ctrl+0] -- View half of the actual size of the document, anti-aliasing (also affects the output)
【Ctrl+Shift+Click on blank space】-- Restore display
【Ctrl+Shift+drag】-- the unselected part will be hidden
【Ctrl+click】-- You can cancel the shortcut button
【Ctrl+N】-- Clear the canvas
【Ctrl+f】-- Fill the two-dimensional image layer
【Ctrl+d】-- Subdivide once
【Ctrl+Z】-- Undo
【Tab】-- hide/display the floating panel
【Press DEL】-- You can maximize the display of the object in the canvas
【0】-- Check the actual size of the document
【Spacebar】-- Activate the menu under the mouse pointer (press and hold and drag the mouse pointer to locate the document)
【Left click and drag in the blank area】-- Rotate the viewing angle
[alt key + left key and then release the alt key to drag and pan in the blank space]-- zoom perspective
[alt+click and drag in the blank space]-- pan the angle of view
【Cooperate with ALT during rotation】-- Rotate the view in a relatively smooth way
【Cooperate with shift during rotation】-- Capture at the orthogonal viewpoint

Students who learn zb can work as modelers, 3D designers, art scene designers, art character artists, game designers, next-generation modelers, etc.

Don't be confused about your future!

all right! That's all for today, I only sorted out part of it, and there are still some places that are not perfect

I hope you leave a message in the comment area
