Installation of dual system Ubuntu16.04

I installed Ubuntu 16.04 on the system before, and summarize the notes at that time

1. First distinguish the type of computer

Share 5+1 types, different types have different installation methods

A MBR traditional bios+single hard drive

B MBR traditional bios + dual hard drives (SSD solid state drive + mechanical hard drive)

C UEFI new bios+single hard disk

D UEFI new bios + dual hard drives (SSD solid state drive + mechanical hard drive)

E Any of the above situations + the computer has a special independent graphics card (in this case, there will be a problem of freezing when shutting down or restarting, and I have sorted out how to solve this problem at the end)

Determine what mode it is, enter msinfo32 through win+r and press Enter to confirm, the following interface will appear:

To judge whether it is a single hard disk or a double hard disk, right-click-management-disk management, the following interface appears, one is a single disk, and the other two are double disks:

2. Partition the disk

The type has been judged in the first step, and then different types of partitions are different. Mine is the fourth type. The fourth type needs to be divided into 1024M on the C drive (responsible for storing startup items), and 200-200M on the last drive of the mechanical hard disk. 300G, I allocated 256G. Right click on the disk - compress the volume. (For other types of partitions, refer to other blogs, which will not be organized here)

3. Burn U disk

Here in our lab, some brothers have burned it, so this part of the work has not been done, but it should not be difficult. There are also many guide blogs on this part on the Internet, so I won’t sort it out here.

4. Install

  • Enter the BIOS interface, different computers enter in different ways, mine is F2. Then you need to make some settings, set the default Windows system to read USB as the default when starting up, and the setting method is different for different computers.
  • Then enter the BIOS manager interface and choose to enter the installation interface.
  • It is a fool to install before partitioning, just follow the installation.
  • partition! ! ! The 1024M partitioned from the C drive before is used to store startup items, select the primary partition, and use it for efi. Then the remaining 200-300G, now set the swap space swap according to your own memory size, generally 16G. All the remaining parts can be given to the root directory "/", and no subdivision will be made (both the swap and the root directory choose logical partitions).

5. Fix crash problem

The reason why the newly installed Ubuntu 16 will be stuck is because the computer has an independent graphics card, but the system comes with a nouveau driver, which will cause shutdown or restart to freeze. Solution: Reinstall the NVIDIA driver, click the settings in the upper right corner
