There are many different kinds of password managers to choose from on the Internet. The author used the 1Password 6 series before, because the version after 7 does not conform to personal usage habits. I tried LastPass later, but I still don't feel as good as the old version of 1Password. Recently, when the author was trying different password managers, he found KeeWeb, which is compatible with KeePass. After using it for a month, it feels good, and it can synchronize files through OneDrive, iCloud, etc.

KeeWeb is an open source password management tool that can be used on macOS / Windows / Linux platforms. This tutorial will introduce you how to use KeeWeb under macOS and use iCloud for file synchronization. The following is the KeeWeb software Demo screenshot;

Installing KeeWeb on macOS is very simple. First, you need to download the KeeWeb application. You can download the application from KeeWeb's official website ( https://keeweb.info/) . Once the download is complete, drag the KeeWeb application into the Applications folder to complete the installation.

Create password library

After starting the KeeWeb application, you need to create a new password vault. Click the New option on the File menu and select Password Vault. In the dialog that pops up, you need to specify a name and location for the password vault. Make sure you save your password vault in iCloud Drive so you can sync your password vault across devices.

add password

Once you've created your password vault, you can start adding passwords. Click the "Add" button and enter the username and password you want to add. You can also add labels to each password to better organize your password vault. When you're done, click the "Save" button.

Synchronize password library

Syncing your password vault with iCloud is easy. Make sure you have iCloud enabled on each device and are signed into the same iCloud account. Then, in the KeeWeb application, click the "Sync" option in the "File" menu. This will automatically sync your password vault with iCloud.

Use KeeWeb

Now you can use KeeWeb on any device. Start the KeeWeb application, and select the password vault you created earlier. After entering your password, you will be able to view and manage all your passwords.
