How to set page number in Word document

In document editing, it is often encountered that the page number is set as follows:

  1. No page numbers on the cover;
  2. The catalog page numbers are sorted by Greek letters, such as: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, …
  3. Body page numbering starts at 1.

First, insert a section break page between the cover, table of contents, and text, as shown in the following figure:

Setup steps:

  1. Enter the footer on any page, insert the page number, starting from 1, at this time, the default page number starting from the cover is '1', sequential numbering;
  2. Enter the footer of the table of contents page, select the page number, right-click, select "Set Page Number Format", select the numbering format (Greek letters), and cancel "Continue to previous section";
  3. Enter the footer of the text page, select the page number, right-click, and cancel "Continue to previous section";

At this time, the page number of the cover is '1', the page number of the table of contents starts from 'I' (capital i), and the page number of the body is also '1', the next step is to delete the page number of the cover, and the table of contents and the body page cannot be affected.

     4. Enter the footer of the catalog page, and cancel the "Link to previous page header navigation" as shown in the figure below;
