Insert page numbers and the total number of page numbers in the header/footer of word (automatically change)

1 question?

In the typesetting of articles, it is often encountered that the page number format needs to be set in the header or footer, and the page number should start from the body part, and the cover, abstract and table of contents should not contain page numbers.

When it is necessary to set the total number of pages, it is very troublesome to set it manually, and it must be reset every time the number of pages is changed!

2 solve

2.1 Article Sections

Insert a section break at the end of the previous page of the starting page of the desired table of contents (the page that displays the page number 1) to divide the article!

Here we take the text after the table of contents as an example, that is, insert a section break at the end of the table of contents :

(1) Place the mouse at the end of the catalog page

(2) Select Separator->Section Break->Continuous in the page layout

(3) Effects

(4) Unlink to previous page

Because we don't want the same header settings to appear on the table of contents or summary pages (similar to the footer),

The default is to link to the previous header, we click it to cancel the link! Just

2.2 Insert page numbers

(1) Set the current page as the starting page of the page number

(2) Insert page number

Position the cursor where you need to enter the page number, press Ctrl+F9 , brackets will appear, as shown in the figure:

Enter page in brackets, and press Shift+F9 to display the page number of the current page!

(3) Insert the total number of pages

For example (2), press Ctrl+F9 where you need to enter the total page number and enter numpages

Press Shift+F9 again

But this time it shows the total number of pages for the entire document, and the abstract and table of contents should also be removed!

As mentioned above, we need to subtract 2 from the total number of pages, then delete the original total number of pages

Then press Ctrl+F9 in the original position , and then press Ctrl+F9 in the brackets , and then enter the following in the two brackets

{= {numpages} - 2}

After the input is complete, press Shift+F9 !

You can automatically adjust the page number and the total number of pages!
