Windows Terminal Preview 1.14 released, supports window background image function

Windows Terminal Preview 1.14 has been released, with a focus on bug fixes and quality improvements, bringing the following:

Window background image feature (experimental)

Instead of each pane having its own background image, it is now possible to have all panes split on one background image. Use global settings

"experimental.useBackgroundImageForWindow": true

This completes the application of the focus profile's background image to the entire window.

new behavior

All text in the buffer can now be selected using the selectAll operation, with the default keys Ctrl+Shift+A .

other improvements

  • Visual changes to tabs, scroll bars, new tab button, title button, color picker, settings UI, command palette and search box to bring Terminal closer to the Windows 11 design language
  • The terminal now knows the toggle state of Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, and Num Lock.
  • Improved stability and performance of the Atlas renderer.

bug fix

  • Command lines in profile.defaults no longer override command lines in profiles that specify cmd.exe or powershell.exe.
  • Screen readers can better read some settings in the UI.
  • Terminal no longer crashes when deleting the last profile in the settings UI.
