Install Linux CentOS Using VMware Virtual Machine

1. Preparation

1. Download and install VMware, the official website is https://www.vmware.com/. The author uses VMware® Workstation 12 Pro, version number: 12.5.0 build-4352439.

2. Linux system selection: CentOS 6.9 (64-bit) official version. Download address: http://mirrors.163.com/centos/6.9/isos/x86_64/. You can choose to download different versions according to the actual situation. The author chose not to include the desktop version.



 

2. Installation

1. Install VMware.

VMware installation is no different from ordinary software installation, and will not be described in detail here.

2. Configure virtual machine properties

2.1. Open the installed VMware. Select Create New Virtual Machine.


 

2.2, select the next step after custom


 

2.3, the default options, the next step



 

2.4, choose to install the operating system later, the next step



 

2.5. Select Linux for the installation system, and select the corresponding image file version for the version. The author chose CentOS 64-bit.



 

2.6. Name the "Virtual Machine Name", select the directory where the Linux system is installed, and go to the next step.



 

2.7. Configure the processor according to the actual situation, the next step. I choose the default.



 

2.8. Configure the virtual machine memory according to the actual situation, the next step. I choose the default.



 

2.9, configure the network type, select the default, the next step



 

2.10, configure the I/O controller type, the default is OK, the next step



 

2.11, select the disk type, the default is OK, the next step



 

2.12, select the disk, the default can be. Next step



 

2.13. Specify the size of the disk capacity, the default is OK. Next step



 

2.14, specify the disk file, the default can be. Next step



 

2.15. Click Finish. Select "Custom Hardware" to adjust the configuration.



 

3. Start the configured VMware virtual machine, right-click the virtual machine, select " Settings ", select "CD/DVD", select "Browse ", find the corresponding image file and click OK.



 

4. Install CentOS

4.1. Select the second line and press Enter.



 

4.2. Select "Skip"

 


 
 

4.3. In the next step of the default configuration, you will encounter Storage device Warning during the period. Select Yes and continue to the next step by default. When you encounter the time zone selection, you can choose "Asia Shanghai" by default.



 

4.4. Set the root (administrator account) password. This user has the highest management authority, so the set password should be properly stored.



 

4.5, and then proceed to the next step according to the default settings to complete the installation of Linux CentOS. After restarting, log in to the system using the root user, indicating that the installation is complete.
