Symbolic clues in ArchiMate
In addition to color, other symbolic cues can be used to differentiate the various layers of the framework, Business, Application, Technology, Physical or Implementation & Migration elements.

Standard symbols also use a convention where the corner shapes of the symbols are appropriate for different element types, as follows:
• Square corners are used to represent structural elements.
• Rounded corners are used to represent behavioral elements.
• Diagonal lines are used to represent motivational elements.
