Alibaba Cloud releases enterprise-level ECS product line, releasing technology upgrade dividends, with a maximum price reduction of 35%

On August 9, the Alibaba Cloud ECS enterprise-level product line was officially released, marking the official decision of Alibaba Cloud ECS products to serve server enterprise customers with the latest product functions, performance, and the highest cost performance.



 

The optimization and superposition of the computing, storage, and network troikas have upgraded the infrastructure of Alibaba Cloud ECS to the best level in the industry.
Intel and Alibaba Cloud have a long-term history of CPU customization cooperation. The Skylake processor used in the new product family has also been specially customized for cloud computing scenarios, and its performance is second to none. The storage field has evolved into an advanced architecture that separates computing and storage. A single instance of SSD cloud disks has reached 180,000 IOPS, including a leap in latency and throughput. In addition, the basic network infrastructure has been fully upgraded to the second-generation Apsara vSwitch technology. The PPS performance of the network reaches 4.5 million PPS for a single instance, and the latency is reduced by 66%, achieving a network capability comparable to that of a physical machine.

At the press conference, Yan Yang, product director of Alibaba Cloud and senior technical expert, announced the release of the technical dividend of the ECS enterprise-level product line, with a maximum price reduction of 35%.

After this series of price cuts, the current price of enterprise-level memory instances is lower than that of shared memory instances, and the price of general-purpose instances has been equal to that of shared general-purpose instances. Users can obtain a comprehensive price-performance ratio that is much stronger than the comprehensive performance of previous instances.

The ultra-high network performance of network-enhanced instances (sn1ne, sn2ne, se1ne), combined with stable computing performance, can make the ultimate performance of a single instance reach dozens of times that of the first-generation shared instance (in terms of network sending and receiving packets).

High-frequency instances (c4, cm4, ce4) can achieve better computing performance in CPU-intensive scenarios. The Intel Xeon E5-2667 v4 processor that can run at a maximum of 3.7GHz and can run stably at 3.5GHz, the instance It can achieve 40%+ performance improvement over traditional shared instances.

The local SSD-type instance (i1) adopts an exclusive computing architecture + local storage design. The biggest advantage of the i1 is that it adopts the enterprise-level highest-performance NVMe SSD and advanced SPDK (Storage Performance Development Kit) storage technology, which comprehensively improves from flash memory to virtualized storage. The full-link read and write performance of machine I/O access, while providing a single instance with up to 48W random read and write IO capability, ensures that 99.9% of the access requests maintain a latency level of 200us.

In addition, the maximum sequential read storage throughput of the I1 instance is 4GB/s, the sequential write throughput performance is 2.4GB/s, the intranet bandwidth and PPS are 10Gbps and 1.2 million respectively, which fully meets the requirements of OLTP relational databases (such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Scenarios such as SQL Server, etc.), NoSQL non-relational databases (such as MongoDB, HBase, Cassandra, etc.), and ElasticSearch distributed log search, have various requirements on instance storage IO latency, throughput, and intranet bandwidth.

At the same time, Alibaba Cloud announced that some instances of the enterprise-level product family will be reduced by up to 35% (see the official website for details), and will provide a 50% subsidy for the change of allocation to enterprise-level instances for customers before August 3.
