6.9 Storage and Loading of Selection [Original Ps Tutorial]

1. This lesson will show you how to store selections and load stored selections. First select the [horizontal text tool] in the toolbox to create a text layer. 



2. Then click on the appropriate position on the screen to determine the starting position of the text. 


3. Then enter a line of text. 


4. Finally, click the [Submit all current edits] button in the upper right corner to confirm the text input. 


5. Click [Move Tool] in the Selection Toolbox. 


6. Press the shortcut key on the keyboard. 


7. Keep the shortcut pressed and click on the thumbnail of the text layer to create a selection based on the text shape. 


8. Then click the [Select > Save Selection] command to save the current selection.

10. In the pop-up Save Selection window, click the input box to the right of [Name], and enter the name of the selection. 


11. Then click the [OK] button to save the selection. 


12. Click the [Select > Deselect] command to cancel the current selection.

14. Then click the [Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur] command to add a Gaussian Blur filter to the current selection.

17. Click the [OK] button to convert the current text layer into an ordinary pixel layer. 


18. Then press the mouse on the slider under [Radius] and drag to the right to increase the strength of the blur. 


19. Click the [OK] button to complete the Gaussian blur setting. 


20. Then click the [Select > Load Selection] command to load the previously saved selection.

22. In the pop-up Load Selection window, click the channel drop-down arrow to pop up the channel list. 


23. The selection is saved as a channel, so you can find it in the channel list. 


24. Then click the [OK] button to complete the loading of the selection. 


25. Use the keyboard shortcuts to fill the current selection with the background color. 


26. Then click the [Select > Deselect] command to cancel the current selection.

28. Click the input box to the right of [Opacity] and enter 70% to reduce the opacity of the current layer. 


29. Observe the final image effect, then use the keyboard shortcut to save the final result and end the lesson.
