3D engine Unity 2018.1 officially released, adding more than 330 improvements

The popular game development engine, Unity, recently got a major update with a bunch of cool and amazing new features. Released on May 2, 2018, the new version of Unity 2018.1 aims to make life easier for game developers and help them quickly create stronger, more fun games.

Unity Engine Producer Brett Bibby said: "The 2018.1 release is one of our largest ever update, and it centers around two core concepts - low-level rendering and default performance."

Many new features and improvements have been added to Unity 2018.1, such as GPU Istancing support for GI, editor Presets for import settings and components, new particle system improvements, and more. Among the many functional updates, the new real-time rendering architecture option Scriptable Render Pipeline (hereinafter referred to as SRP) has attracted a lot of attention. SRP will directly improve the quality of game rendering images to a level comparable to that of film and television.

In addition to SRP, Unity 2018.1 will offer the High Definition Render Pipeline (HD RP) so developers can create triple-A looking experiences, plus low-res (Lightweight) for those that don't need ultra-high-definition images. ) rendering pipeline (LW RP) to provide the ideal combination of look and speed for image creation on mobile devices.

Of course, Unity has been updated with plenty of immersive content improvements for VR and AR developers. Unity technology has now integrated Google's Spatial Audio SDK, Resonance Audio, to help render hundreds of simultaneous 3D sound sources.

For Mixed Reality (MR), the MagicLeap Technology Preview (SDK) and Lumin SDK under the Unity app are now available through the Magic Leap Creator Portal. Additionally, ARCore 1.1, running in the Unity environment, provides the ability to create high-quality AR applications in Google Play for millions of Android-enabled devices. "Improving understanding of the developer's surrounding scene with pointed feature points, a new feature allows developers to place virtual content on surfaces close to detected feature points, such as On cans, boxes and books."
