I wanted to be a "driver" since I was a child, but I became an Alibaba Cloud PD by accident.

Abstract: The May 4th Youth Day is coming soon. I was invited by Yunqi Community to share my growth story. Everyone has their own growth story, or stormy seas, or flat rivers. But whether it's bland or brilliant, it's all ours. Not everyone has the opportunity to make meritorious deeds, but everyone can strive to be the best version of themselves.

Once, I just wanted to be a bus driver

A lot of people dream of being a superhero as a kid, but I didn't.

My dream when I was a child was to become a bus driver, because the bus can take a lot of people, and I can take seven aunts and eight aunts to visit Beijing city together.

Yes, my childhood ideals were simple.

Now, I am a product manager of Alibaba Cloud Elastic Computing, known in the industry as ECS.

The troubles of growing up in a teacher's family

In the 1980s, I was born in an ordinary teacher's family, but my middle school career was not ordinary, because the meaning of a teacher's family is: in a small city, there is only one middle school, the math teacher is my father, and the physics teacher is me. Uncle, the English teacher is my aunt. Although not everyone taught me, but as you can imagine, with their intricate connections in various teaching and research groups, I passed a note to a girl during my evening self-study, and went to the toilet several times in the middle of the class, it is not a secret . Through hearing and seeing since childhood, my ideal has changed from being a bus driver to being a people's teacher, but now the ideal of a people's teacher has not been realized, but I have fallen into the problem of being a good teacher.

In the summer of 2010, at the end of four years of university, I embarked on a journey to study in France. The reason for choosing France is not because of the fascination with the romantic country, nor because it used to be the place where Comrade Xiaoping and Premier Zhou’s revolution started, nor because of the yearning for the education of French engineers. But I, who haven't even passed CET 6, might as well find another way to win instead of dragging the GMAT and TOEFL gods behind.

Yes, the idea is simple and pure.

The ultimate question test: what exactly do I want

After graduating from engineering school, I signed my first contract of my career as a QA engineer in the southern French city of Nice. The contract in France is an indefinite contract, which seems to let me see the end of my life. Compared with the student days when I needed to consider living expenses and work part-time, I have a stable income and 35 days of paid leave a year. I accidentally entered the horse. Slough needs the spire of the pyramid.

So when I just ate cabbage, I was too early to worry about what I shouldn't worry about: how should a person's life be spent? When the ultimate test came, I was clearly still too young. Under the dual effects of adrenaline and the Belt and Road Initiative, I left the blue Mediterranean Sea and my 35-day annual leave behind, and in the summer of 2015, I plunged into the crowds of the imperial capital. As expected, I was mercilessly overwhelmed.

It's not scary to be submerged, what's scary is to forget the original intention of returning to China. An ordinary individual can do meaningful things. Using my spare time and a little bit of enthusiasm, I and a group of like-minded friends established the first French speaking club in Beijing to provide a learning and sharing platform for all French lovers. When French President Emmanuel Macron visited China at the beginning of the year, the CCTV news channel made a special report on the club and named it: A Window for the Blending of Chinese and French Cultures. I suddenly realized that bringing value to others is a very meaningful thing.

Join Ali, the intersection of dream and reality

The club that others described as impossible at first became possible with the silent insistence of a group of people. Life is a choice one by one, connecting the unknown days of working alone. And for me, an important choice came on November 9, 2017.

On that day, the last leaf of Beijing had just fallen, and everything was bleak.

When deciding to join Alibaba Cloud, countless people told me: You must think clearly!

My answer is heartwarming: what is the difference between a life without challenges and a salted fish!

I think my friends really love me, so I can't bear to expose my ignorance.

If my previous work state was a period of calm plus a few days of calmer a month, then my current state is a period of torment plus a few more torments a month.

At Alibaba Cloud, we are surrounded by experts in the industry. It is the minimum requirement not to hold back the team and not to affect the entire business because of one's own product problems. The constant pursuit of technological and product innovation is the meaning of this position. As an infrastructure service, every technological innovation and breakthrough in elastic computing can bring huge dividends, and a design flaw can also affect millions of customers. Every time I see complaints about Alibaba Cloud, I feel like walking on thin ice. But it is this kind of team composed of industry experts who dance on the tip of a knife every day. Only then can they summon the "Dragon", support nearly half of the domestic IaaS market, and become the first Chinese cloud to go overseas.

Why do I choose Alibaba Cloud? Ray Dalio's first principle gave me the answer, one is enjoying life and the other is changing the world. Where should I be on this scale? If I choose to just enjoy life, I should be laying on the sands of the Cote d'Azur by now and basking in the sun.

Hi, are you from Ali too?

As time went by, I began to understand what the classmate culture advocated by Ali was. High-level bosses are just senior brothers and sisters, and one of their responsibilities is to help lower-level students grow up. Before entering Ali, I felt that this was just a branding of the company's own culture. But when I ask a question, the answer to me can paint a wall without reservation; when I see someone smarter than me working harder than me. Really, role models are more effective than fighting chickens.

It's not been a long time since I joined Ali, but I began to be complained by my friends: Talking to you feels like arriving in Ali. Is this the legendary Ali flavor? Sometimes not understood, sometimes curious. People here have different backgrounds, different preferences, but are fighting for the same ideals.

The most romantic thing in this world, apart from getting old with a person, may be doing a meaningful thing with a group of like-minded people.

Not everyone has the opportunity to make meritorious deeds, but everyone can strive to be the best version of themselves.

The road to perseverance is difficult, but every inch of progress is an inch of joy.

He Chuan (Yun Zhang), Alibaba Cloud elastic computing product expert, joined Alibaba Cloud in 2017 and is currently responsible for ECS creation, deployment and automation capability experience.

Elastic computing  provides basic computing services on the cloud, with the advantages of elastic scaling, high stability, and high performance. Compared with traditional IDC, users building their own IT architecture on the cloud is as convenient and flexible as assembling computers automatically with one click. Having a highly available architecture, rich functions, and efficient operation and maintenance capabilities is already a capability that every company, entrepreneur and individual user can possess.
