The Ubuntu Kylin team has released the Ubuntu Kylin 18.04 LTS open source operating system. As the third long-term support version of Ubuntu Kylin, the 18.04 version released this time has a series of system kernels, desktop environments, featured applications, and cooperative software. Update to provide users with a better and updated experience.


In terms of the kernel, this upgrade to Linux kernel 4.15, the main features of the update include:

  • CPU controllers that support cgroup v2

  • Support for AMD Encrypted Virtualization

  • Add latest MD driver

  • Improved support for systems with SATA link power management

  • Linux Security Module Stack Support

  • Provides a larger memory limit for x86 hardware

  • Improved hardware support for IBM and Intel devices

  • Patched for Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities.

In terms of desktop environment, the underlying components of the desktop environment have been updated, a series of new functions have been added, and many minor bugs have been fixed to provide users with a more comfortable and concise operating experience. The main updates include:

  • Migrate python2 to python3

  • Increase menu mode selection, provide general menu and category menu switching

  • Increase the function of application open history file

  • Increase the transparency of the taskbar
