Part 1 3D modeling of the doughnut in Autodesk Maya

What you will learn
Autodesk Maya Fundamentals
Autodesk Maya 2022
3d modeling in maya
Maya 3d texturing

For new Autodesk Maya users

This tutorial is intended for new Autodesk Maya users. I'm going over the basics of user interface in Maya 2022. Then, I'll go on to guide you on how to work with your project and how to save the file in Maya. After doing this, we will start making the doughnuts. I'll talk about the various object primitives found in Maya and explain their differences. We'll also go ahead and create a torus-shaped form that we'll carefully deform and adjust using Maya's modeling tools to create the rough shape of the doughnut. I'll talk about how to smooth out shapes, then we'll move on to adding subdivisions to the 3d model, will briefly touch on the sculpting tools in Maya that we'll use to sculpt some extra realistic detail to add more realism to the model feel. After we've finished modeling, I'll discuss texturing and adding materials to 3d models, and I'll briefly cover the different materials found in Maya and how to manipulate them. After all, this is when we're going to go lighting, and I'll touch on the different lights found in Maya and setup to use when adding to a scene. Then we'll end with the final step, rendering a real image of the donut using the Arnold renderer that comes with Autodesk Maya. I'll cover rendering resolutions and different rendering settings, such as using your CPU and GPU to render your images.

3D textures and UV maps in the second part maya2022

What you will learn
Learn how to use Mash
Understand how UV maps work in maya
Demonstrate the ability to properly texture a 3d model using an image file
Have a working knowledge of how to apply bump and normal maps

Requirements
Watch the first part of this tutorial series

This is the second part of this Autodesk Maya Beginner Fundamentals tutorial series. If you haven't watched the first part, then I suggest you watch it first, then watch this one. The main purpose of our course is to give you an understanding of what proceduralism is and how to use Mash. We will continue with the 3d model of the donut we made in the first part, we will add sprinkles to our donut model and create a more detailed texture. Once done, you should be able to create more attractive and photorealistic textures for your 3d models.

The goal of this class is to give you a basic understanding of Mash Maya's procedural system, also learn how to UV unwrap 3d models, and learn how to use image files to texture your 3d models. You should be able to make a more realistic texture by using bump and normal maps to fake details like the textures on the thumbnail for this class. MAYA 2022 Basic Tutorial for Beginners

As a student you should do this

Learn how to use Mash

Mousse donuts with mashed potatoes

Learn how UV maps work in Maya

Demonstrate the ability to properly texture 3d models using image files

Have a working knowledge of how to apply bump and normal maps

All of the above items are skills that will be learned in the classroom. If you're stuck, there's a zip file as a resource with my complete donuts to help with learning
