Three sending modes:
1. Simple sending (mail.catchall.domain is not set)
is sent directly with the sending account, the sender needs to be the same as the sending account or another alias under the same account, otherwise it will be rejected by the mail system, such as SMTPSenderRefused: 501 mail from address must be same as authorization user [email protected]. The recipient also directly responds to the real address, which is very easy to understand and belongs to the most primitive mode. It is most suitable for mail notification, which only integrates sending but not integrated receiving.
2. Proxy sending (mail.catchall.domain setting, mail.bounce.alias not setting)
indirectly use the postmaster-odoo account to send on behalf of, the sending account needs to have the authorization of the name, otherwise it will be rejected by the mail system, such as SMTPSenderRefused: 501 mail from address must be same as authorization user [email protected]. The receiver replies to the catchall private address by default. Because it is a proxy, and the sender address, proxy address, and reply address can be different, the first time you use it, there will be some subversion of the mailbox view, and even some clients will be cautious. There is a fraud reminder, but this is indeed the most pragmatic mode used in China, and most of the tutorials are explained in detail
3. Bounce sending (mail.catchall.domain setting, mail.bounce.alias setting) is
sent indirectly using the bounce address, such as [email protected] or [email protected], where +5 is the mail serial number, -2 is the document serial number. It can be seen that the former is still document-related emails, and the recipient also defaults to the catchall private address, because it involves knowledge of email reception and other related knowledge, and the domestic free mailbox service basically does not have perfect support. This article will not discuss in depth. When ODOO mail receiving integration is discussed in the future, we will discuss how to cooperate with Postfix to achieve perfect sending and receiving.
The first one is used by default. Delete mail.catchall.domain in the system parameters, and then set up smtp to send in the name of the company. The company email account must be the same as the smtp sending account.
