Is the new proposal going online to reduce the consumption of GAS fees? The V1.5.0 version update is coming soon!

On January 27th, Filecoin official Jennifer announced on Slack that Lotus V1.5.0 will be forced to upgrade at around 8 am on March 4th, Beijing time. Node operators and miners must upgrade their clients, otherwise they will lose Synchronization with the Filecoin chain. V | czdn222

On February 23, the V1.5.0 version and candidate versions LotusV1.5.0-rc1 and V1.5.0-rc2 were officially released. Two FIP proposals are included in the LotusV1.5 version, namely FIP-0007 and FIP-0010. Among them, FIP-0007 can improve Filecoin HAMT and AMT in terms of performance and security, and FIP-0010 can reduce the amount of Submitted WindowedPost messages. Gas consumption.

FIP-0007

The FIP-0007 proposal is mainly to improve Filecoin HAMT (Hash Array Mapped Trie) and AMT to make it more efficient and safer. It optimizes the underlying data structure, which will affect the storage of the chain and improve the synchronization and read and write efficiency of the chain. The optimization motivation of this proposal is also to improve the performance of the chain, improve its information processing ability, strictly reduce the size of ipld operations and serialization, and reduce GAS to a certain extent.

The FIP-0010 proposal is mainly to improve WindowPoSt, and to reduce gas fees by changing the on-chain verification to off-chain. In the original version, a WindowPoSt verification is required every half an hour, and this verification process will generate a lot of gas fees.

In the updated version, the time-space certificate generated in the WindowPoSt spot check allows the network to not verify it when it is submitted to the chain, and directly defaults it to pass and accept the chain. Later, the off-chain verifier can call Dispute WindowedPoSt to verify.

In other words, the space-time proof produced after the version update will no longer be checked in real time, but any miner who owns the Lotus node after 1800 epochs will be questioned by calling DisputeWindowedPoSt. After the questioning is successful, all sectors corresponding to WindowPoSt will enter the Fault. In the state of, its computing power will disappear in a short time, and then the dishonest miners will be fined. The fine is 5.51 times the daily burst revenue of each sector corresponding to WindowPoSt. Those who question the success can get 4FIL rewards.

For example, the Chinese teacher confiscated the favorite toys of the whole class before assigning the summer homework, indicating that the homework will not be checked one by one at the end of the summer vacation. The students will check each other randomly, and the students who are randomly checked will return the toys after completing the homework. If the toy has not been completed, it shall belong to the classmate who does the random check. To put it simply, I honestly wrote my homework and everything is fine. If I don't do my homework, my favorite toy is lost and I will be trained.

Filecoin's FIP-0010 transfers message verification from on-chain to off-chain, similar to the concept of layer2. There is no verification on the chain, and the feature that allows doubt under the chain has only happened in the Bitcoin Lightning Network before. Layer 2 is not easy to implement because its boundary conditions are difficult to consider and it is prone to loopholes. Filecoin is forcing layer2 to be introduced to the chain to achieve the purpose of reducing gas fees, which can be said to be a new attempt. The official verification method to reduce the gas fee is logically feasible, but it is inevitable that there will be large and small bugs in the process of implementation, but I believe that they can be solved perfectly. The future can be expected. We only need to correct The official has a little more confidence and patience. V | czdn222
