Install Linux ubuntu20.04.1LTS on the mobile hard disk, detailed introduction of partition

1. Installation preparation

Need these two software
Both software are required.
The former is used to make the boot disk of the U disk. The latter is used for pre-partitioning.

2. Partition

1. Pre-partitioning under windows

My partition scheme:

Use diskgenius to divide my mobile hard disk (about 500G in total) into 4 areas, all of which are primary partitions.
1G is allocated to /boot (the drive letter is named /boot at this time, and then the file format is set to fat32-I am not very clear about why this file format is used, I refer to the practice of other blogs)
8G is allocated to swap (only Set the file format)
100G is allocated to / partition (named the drive letter is /, then the file format is set to ext4) and the
rest is allocated to the /home partition (named drive letter is /home, then the file format is set to ext4). The
name can be named whatever you want , Because the drive letter cannot be seen during the formal linux installation later, let's recognize it by the disk space!

2. Formal partition and mount for installation

Remember to select "Other option installation" before linux installation to this step, otherwise your original windows system will be overwritten.
When entering this step, first find your own mobile hard disk in the list above according to the space and partition of each disk (mine: 500G, 4 zones, that is, sda1-sda4 shown in the figure above).
After that, you need to format them one by one , and then mount them according to the distribution plan.

other problems

1

When linux is installed, an error will be reported, saying that you must turn off the inter's fast storage technology, and this is no problem (at least on my computer). Uninstall the driver according to knowing a teaching method-enter safe mode-enter bios and change sata raid to ahci-exit safe mode.

2

Note that the uefi mode is adopted by default under windows10, and I also recommend installing Linux in this mode. If you adjust to legacy to install, the hard disk will be unplugged and the computer will report "no boot" and cannot start. At this time, you need to try to enter the bios, and then transfer back to uefi to enter win10 again! (The author encountered this problem, and magically, the author's shortcut key to enter the bios happened to be unavailable, even after closing some data of windows Many articles said that under the option of hindering the startup of bios, under the guidance of the master, the problem was solved by removing the battery and resetting the bios)
