The internet
On December 19, 2020, the Filecoin network experienced an interruption. At that time, there was a window period when new blocks could be created but the miners were unable to synchronize during the result phase, resulting in different calculation results. Thanks to the entire community members, miners and developers for their quick response. The main network was restored within seven hours.
From December 4, 2020, 1392 new miners have joined the network, you are welcome to join! With the joint efforts of 573 storage providers and 616 customers, the entire network generated 751,106 valid transactions and 3PiB of data storage.
This year we look forward to the addition of nodes running other three applications to make our network more secure and decentralized. So far, the Venus node has been operating stably on the mainnet.

In addition, the lotus team is still developing a mandatory update version to be released early next month. This update will integrate the proof6.0.0 version and the third version of spec-actor, and there will also be some new features and optimizations including a smarter public storage transaction mechanism, allowing msig wallets to become miners’ own addresses.
We also added a lotus contribution guide to git, and we hope to attract more developers to contribute code.
The Spec-actor team is preparing for the v3 version release. The improved version integrating v3 AMT/HAMT will provide better performance and security. Other new features will support offline Window PoST verification. This FIP will reduce the SubmitWindowedPoSt information fee from a long-term perspective, and the synchronization speed will be faster.
After the 6.0.0 version is released, the team will improve the main network as a whole and do some code optimizations. The team is developing pure OpenCL batch hasing, which will bring twice the efficiency increase and greatly reduce GPU memory usage. The team is also studying the working mechanism of ZCash's Halo2 and exploring how to use it in the next generation of knowledge proofs.

In December 2020, Fenbushi Capital cooperated with the official team to invest USD 15 million in the ecosystem of IPFS and Filecoin, with the goal of promoting the development of the IPFS ecosystem.
In 2021, we look forward to more applications with practical scenarios like file.Video developed by liverpeer. Only they can promote the Filecoin mainnet to store human digital information. As budget allows, the Filecoin Dev Grant plan, which was originally scheduled to end on January 15th, will be extended to the end of the first quarter of 2021. Everyone can apply. There are proposals for miner support tools, storage clients, and blockchain analysis tools. Of course, you can also propose your own unique projects.
Community and more
In December, we released the Filecoin MinerX Fellowship project, which aims to attract a series of small-scale miner groups to build a solid global distributed storage, help customers fix bugs, and improve the miner experience. The list statistics work is now nearing completion, and the project will begin in a few weeks.
