In the past year, we may talk a lot about our experiences and difficulties, but we just look back at this year and talk about some plans for the future.
Despite all the difficulties, we have worked hard this year. All of our planned work has not yet been completed, but we are committed to achieving all goals in the foreseeable future.
what happened
In the past year, we were able to implement a new quality control process for our products. Work in this direction will continue. We optimized and improved the export of various formats, added new object properties, improved the report generation algorithm and fixed many bugs. We have added support for 5 new barcodes and 6 new formats to save documents.
We would like to thank the developers for their hard work in refactoring the code to merge the source code of the .NET series into a common repository.
In addition, in FastReport NET, we added Windows Forms support for .NET Core 3.1 and support for .NET 5, introduced security controls for report scripts when working in web applications, and developed a new demo application program. In addition, we also deprecated the .NET Framework 2.0 support in the FastReport NET product. FastReport Mono has gained the ability to build charts.
We added support for the new RAD Studio in FastReport VCL, did a lot of work to improve the user interface, added new features to build complex reports, and improved the quality of generated reports. In addition, we noticed the work on improving the product FastReport for Lazarus. In turn, FastReport FMX has gained the ability to run in 64-bit applications under the macOS operating system, improved the report designer, and can handle data processing and document generation.
The OLAP FastCube .NET product can now be used in ASP.NET Core Web applications. It has an improved interface, adds new possibilities for data filtering, and can run in Mono. FastCube VCL is supported by expression and works better in Lazarus. In FastCube FMX, new options for data highlighting have been added.
We would like to thank all FastReport open source users, those who contributed to improving it, and those who wrote to us for them.
What's next?
Our analysts work closely with the entire team to monitor software development and trends in the entire IT industry. We continue to learn and try to improve our products according to customer needs.
Let's start with the FastReport VCL and FMX product plans:
- We want to release FastReport VCL 7;
- The tables in the report will be improved;
- PDF documents will have digital signature function;
- The report will be able to use SVG images;
- New shipping methods will be added;
- The Lazarus version will get RichView objects;
- New interface styles will be added.
FastReport .NET products will receive: - Support high resolution screen (high dpi);
- Components used with Blazor framework;
- Support the new .NET 6;
- Digital signature of MS Office documents;
- Parallel printing on multiple printers;
- The function of connecting to the database based on Clickhouse column.
The FastReport Mono cross-platform report generator will be more compatible with different operating systems-we plan to improve the stability and performance of this product.
The browser-based report editor FastReport Online Designer will add support for editing charts, new report objects and an improved user interface.
Improvements to the FastCube user interface will continue, and plans to expand its functionality to connect to different DBs.
