Install Linux virtual environment Ubuntu on VMWare virtual machine

Inscription

After a relatively smooth installation process, I got rid of the Lenovo notebook I have used for 3 years, and the new desktop computer can finally smoothly drag the large-capacity virtual machine I have been thinking about. I am inexplicably happy, and mark the configuration of the virtual machine toy.

1. Installation process

1.1 Tools and resources

VMware-workstation-full-16.0.0-16894299
can be downloaded directly from Baidu's official website.

The
official download address of ubuntu-16.04.6-desktop-i386.iso . Anyway, I tried it, but it didn't work at all. Even if I set up a proxy, I can't pull it down.

Zhejiang University. It looks like it can be downloaded, which is slightly slower.

Ali Cloud. I downloaded this quickly anyway.

1.2 VMWare new virtual disk

Just follow the installation wizard step by step.

  1. Open the running program and create a new virtual machine. I'm lazy and choose a few typical configurations (recommended).

  2. Do not install the image file first.

  3. I choose linux system -> Ubuntu. I chose Ubuntu because XX cloud services are used more and Ubuntu systems are used more, so I am more familiar with it.

  4. Name and location. It is best to choose a larger disk for installation.

  5. My computer is equipped with a 1T machine specifically to toss these things. The capacity is arbitrary, but it cannot be less than 20G, otherwise it will be meaningless.

    6. Click on Hardware Configuration. Choose the processor and memory according to your computer performance. My AMD3900X+32G memory has ample performance, so I chose the configuration of 2 processors + 4096 memory. Pay attention to the tips, don't exceed the maximum, and don't be less than the recommended.

1.3 Install Ubuntu image

As shown in the figure above, just replace the downloaded image and it will be OK.

2. Error resolution

2.1 AMD-V is disabled

! ! ! Suddenly I found that the virtual machine could not be started. **This host supports AMD-V, but AMD-V is disabled...** There are a bunch of bulabula, don't panic! This thing is actually the motherboard BIOS virtualization is not turned on, you need to enter the BIOS settings.

  1. Turn on DEL to enter the BIOS setup interface as shown in the figure below. There is an Advanced Mode (F2) on the left , enter. Different motherboards may have different positions, just find the keywords.

  2. Enter the CPU Ratio Mode. (In fact, it is to enter the interface to change the CPU option enable).
    Insert picture description here
  3. SVM Mode (virtualization enable) is enabled as Enabled.
    Insert picture description here
The above settings are OK for a long time, click VMShare to start the virtual machine, and you will enter a heart-warming place.
    Insert picture description here
For the rest, just follow the installation instructions to complete the Ubuntu installation.

2.2 The black screen only shows the cursor

1. Reset Winsock directory

Purpose To reset the network configuration command line. Start the command line tool with administrator privileges. Win10 may be a bit troublesome, you need:

  • Right-click the start icon in the lower left corner →Windos PowerShell (Administrator)
  • input the commandnetsh winsock reset
  • Then restart the computer

2. The most concise solution

If it still doesn't work, just delete the virtual machine and reconfigure and install it again. When installing, select the ISO image file directly, don't skip it, generally there is no problem. That's how I am, and it's all right suddenly. Attach a delightful picture.
