Apache Solr 8.7.0 has been released . Solr is a full-text search server based on Lucene and the most popular enterprise-level search engine. Its main functions include full-text search, hit highlighting, faceted search, dynamic clustering, database integration, and Processing of rich text (such as Word, PDF). Solr is highly scalable and provides distributed search and index replication. Solr 4 also adds NoSQL support.
In 2010, the Lucene and Solr projects merged, and both projects are maintained by the Apache Foundation. In 2011, Solr changed the version number scheme to be consistent with the Lucene version number.
