VMware set virtual machine full screen

When installing a virtual machine in VMware, the default system window is not displayed in full screen in the virtual machine. It looks relatively small and inconvenient. The system desktop can be displayed in full screen in the virtual machine through the settings of the virtual machine. This article uses Ubuntu 20.04 as an example to explain, in fact, the same operation is done when changing to other Linux systems.

1. Click "Virtual Machine" and "Install VMware Tools(T)" in turn. After clicking, a prompt message will appear under the virtual machine, and VMware Tools will appear on the left toolbar, as shown in the following figure:

2. Click VMware Tools in the left toolbar, copy VMwareTools-10.3.10-12406962.tar.gz to ~ (home directory), execute tar -zxvf VMwareTools-10.3.10-12406962.tar.gz to decompress, As shown below:

3. Enter the vmware-tools-distrib directory and execute sudo ./vmware-install.pl, as shown in the figure below:

After executing the above, the operating system desktop is full screen in the virtual machine.
