Install Sogou Pinyin Input Method The
biggest trouble with Linux is the Chinese input method, but under Ubuntu, this is not a problem! Sogou Pinyin already has an Ubuntu version, so although we installed the English version of Ubuntu, we can still use the Chinese input method.
(1) Open the official website of Sogou Input Method Linux version http://pinyin.sogou.com/linux/?r=pinyin under Ubuntu, and download
the version you need , here select the 64-bit version, as shown in the figure below , Choose to download 64bit immediately (see whether your Ubuntu is 32bit or 64bit), and then select "SaveFiles". The browser will
download the deb installation package to the Download subdirectory of the current user directory.
(2) Enter the Download directory from the graphical user interface, double-click the downloaded deb software package, Ubuntu will automatically pop up the software manager, then
click Install in the upper right corner, and enter the root password to install Sogou input method.
(3) Enter im-config in the terminal, then a dialog box will appear, click OK, there is a dialog box, click Yes, you will see
the dialog box shown in Figure 1-52 . If fcitx is selected above, just ignore it and close it directly; if not, under the select column, check fcitx and click
OK. Another dialog box will appear, followed by OK, and finally restart the Ubuntu virtual machine.
4) After restarting, type in the terminal: fcitx-config-gtk3 A dialog box appears. Click the (+) button in the lower left corner of the
dialog box to pop up another dialog box. Then, cancel Only Show Current Language (it is very important, otherwise you cannot find the Sogou input method you just installed!)
Finally, enter sogou in the input box, select and click OK, then the input method list will have more Sogou pinyin .
(5) Close these dialog boxes and use ctr+spacebar to switch between 3 input methods. You can
enter Chinese in the browser, text editor and command line.
