On the whole, the average salary of 5G-related talents is still 8% to 12% lower than that of Internet technology positions, and there is a lot of room for growth in salary levels.
There is a large talent gap for senior technical positions
Core technical positions are still the most important talent gap in the 5G industry, and demand for popular positions has increased by more than 51%. In the second quarter of 2020, the 5G technology positions with the largest month-on-month increase in demand are concentrated in the basic R&D layer. Among them, core network engineers saw the largest increase in demand from the previous month, reaching 61.5%.
Communication engineering and computer majors are the main sources of 5G talents
The report shows that the 5G field has high requirements for professional technology and professional background. Talents engaged in related jobs generally have an academic background in electronic communications and computers.
At present, there is still a huge talent gap in important fields such as 5G technology research and development, product applications, and 5G solutions. In particular, talents with professional backgrounds in communications engineering, electronic information engineering, optical information science and technology are the most scarce.
The demand for 5G talents in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen is strong
From the perspective of the demand for 5G talents in various cities in the second quarter of 2020, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai have the strongest demand for 5G-related jobs, and the top ten cities with the most concentrated demand for talent account for 67.5% of the total demand.
Compared with last year, the ranking of new first-tier cities has changed. Last year, Xi’an, which ranked fourth, dropped to eighth, and Hangzhou made up for the position with 8.1% of job demand. Suzhou replaced Zhengzhou and ranked tenth on the list with a 2.0% job demand ratio.
According to the "2020 Second Quarter Talent Attraction Report" previously released by BOSS Direct Employment, the "new infrastructure" policy promoted the development of 5G in the first half of this year, and electronic communications ranked among the ten most attractive industries for talents, and the job market prosperity index rose To sixth.
In general, the 5G industry is currently on the rise, and 5G talents are in short supply, especially core network engineers and network optimization engineers. Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai have the most demand for 5G-related positions, with a composite background in technology research and development and commercial solutions. The talents are particularly sought-after.
