Restriction on the use of Alibaba Cloud ECS cloud server:
1. Limitations of the software platform
Compared with many well-known virtual hosts, cloud hosting has undoubtedly become less restrictive in software. In the past, we often could only passively choose from various software that has been installed by the service provider. Now we can use Install almost any software we need on the cloud host. Of course, there are some restrictions.
When you buy Alibaba Cloud ECS server, you can choose public mirror (equivalent to pure version system) and third-party mirror in the mirror market (generally a system with integrated application environment). Here, the webmaster class recommends that you think about what you need to install before buying the server. What kind of program, then see if there is an application environment in the mirror market that can meet your own requirements. If you have one, just use it directly. It saves a lot of things for the future. Of course, you can also build the server environment by yourself after purchase.
At present, except for the installation and deployment of virtualization software (kvm, xen, docker, etc.), Alibaba Cloud ECS server can support normal mainstream software, and there are no relevant restrictions on the back end. Alibaba Cloud server is basically like a standalone host of its own, but it can't be installed with virtualization software. Fortunately, we generally don't need it. If some software fails to install or is abnormal, it is generally caused by the compatibility problem of the program and system, or the current environment of the system is chaotic, such as virus infection. 2. Restrictions on domain name and record

If you want to access your server by domain name, you have to file it first, as long as the server is in mainland China. This is a limitation. Regarding the matter of filing, I don't think it is a bad thing. After all, one of the original intentions of the country is to use this to manage the network environment and provide you with a relatively standardized and controllable Internet space. Filing has reduced the proliferation of spam sites to a certain extent, isn't it? Controlling the generation of spam websites from the source is indeed a good aspect of filing. Alibaba Cloud provides five record numbers for each cloud host. So how do you choose your own server operating system?
Which operating system to choose depends on the program to be run on the server. I believe that at the stage of buying a server, I already have a plan in my mind about what kind of website and technology I want to make.
If you are using an ASP / ASP.NET type website program or a software program based on the .NET framework, I recommend choosing the Windows series operating system. Although the Linux operating system can also run ASP / ASP.NET programs through certain technologies, it is not recommended to use it;
If you use a language with good cross-platform compatibility, such as PHP / JSP / Python, the Linux version of the operating system will be a better choice. The Linux version of the operating system has higher security, better stability, and various kinds of software for the server can be called an artifact, which is very suitable for the operating system of the server. However, compared with the Windows system, the operation of Linux will be more complicated and requires system learning. It is recommended that users who have a certain basis of Linux choose to use it.

Log in to your Alibaba Cloud host (Linux Windows)
Alibaba Cloud host is bought and the operating system is selected. To control it, put a website or something on it. First, you have to log in to it. According to the operating system you choose, you can log in to the Alibaba Cloud server remotely through some tools.

Use remote connection software: Commonly used remote connection software includes Putty, Xshell, etc.

Management terminal NC: No matter whether you purchase bandwidth when creating an instance, you can log in to the instance through the management terminal of the management console for management.

Mobile phone: You can also connect to the instance through the remote desktop APP (such as SSH Control Light) on the mobile phone. Since the operation is relatively simple, it will not be repeated here.
Of course, there are many ways to remotely log in to a server. If you are a familiar operation and maintenance personnel, I believe you have found a remote login tool that suits you. I will not repeat them here.
Format and mount data disks
This step is not necessary. If you choose a data disk when you buy an Alibaba Cloud server, after logging in to the instance, the system needs to format the data disk first and then mount the data disk. The data disk can be configured in multiple partitions according to business needs. It is recommended to use the system's own tools for partition operation.
Note: The cloud server ECS only supports the secondary partition of the data disk, but not the secondary partition of the system disk (whether it is a Windows or Linux system). If you forcefully use a third-party tool to perform a secondary partition operation on the system disk, it may cause unknown risks, such as system crashes and data loss.
This operation is applicable to non-I / O optimized + SSD cloud disk Linux (Redhat, CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu) instances. For I / O optimized instance + SSD cloud disk data disk partition mounting, it is recommended to use the script tool: auto_fdisk_ssd.sh. Deploy the operating environment
Different website programs have different requirements for the server. Of course, most of the requirements are basically similar. According to your actual needs, you can start to configure the software environment on the Alibaba Cloud server to prepare for your installation of the website program.
Alibaba Cloud Server provides two ways to use the cloud server ECS instance deployment environment: image deployment / manual deployment. Here, the webmaster class recommends the image deployment method. Of course, if you need personalized deployment, you can also use manual deployment.
Upload and install website program
After deploying the operating environment, the final step is to upload your website program to the Alibaba Cloud host for installation. There needs to be some installation information, such as the root directory of the website, database account and password and so on. If it is a manually configured server, I believe you must know this information. If it is deployed with an image, each image has a corresponding manual that describes the information, usually in the home directory of the default user of the operating system.
