This program may itself be a small program, designed to load a larger, more capable program, a complete operating system. For example, any computer compatible with the IBM PC can load the first 512 bytes of the floppy disk through built-in software and execute it when the program is feasible; the boot floppy disk has a very simple loading program in these bytes. Modern computers are configured to try to boot from different devices in a certain order. If the computer does not have a startup device, such as a floppy disk drive, the user may enter the BIOS setup function to press a special key when the computer is first turned on (such as delete, F1, F2, F10, or F12), and then change the startup sequence. Recent bios allow the last stage of the boot process to be interrupted by pressing a function key (usually F11). This will result in a list of bootable devices from which to choose.
