Traditional plastic runways are mainly composed of the following chemical components: (1) rubber particles; (2) additives; (3) mixed polyethers; (4) polyurethane prepolymers; (5) pigments, etc. Although the "polyurethane" plastic track has many good properties, such as appropriate hardness, elasticity, and good flatness, the toluene diisocyanate (TDI) contained in it is highly toxic. Not only will serious human injuries be caused to construction workers during the construction process, but also if high temperatures are encountered after completion, harmful substances (such as lead, mercury, etc.) in the plastic track will be released at an accelerated rate, causing great harm to the human body. In addition, these toxic substances will also pollute groundwater to a certain extent. Based on this situation, in order to avoid the recurrence of "toxic runways", plastic track manufacturers must continue to innovate plastic track production technology. For example, three schools in Feixi County, Anhui Province, including Guanting Central School, Gaodian Central School and Zipeng Kindergarten, chose water-based plastic runways to replace the traditional "polyurethane" plastic runways when building plastic runways. This kind of plastic track will not release any toxins during use, does not contain organic volatiles, and is safer for construction workers. In the future, we hope that more plastic track manufacturers will continue to innovate plastic track production technology to keep "toxic tracks" away from people's horizons.
