Chrome 116 officially released

The stable version of Chrome 116 has been officially released (version  116.0.5845.96/.97) .

The main changes are as follows:

  • Support for adding notes when saving passwords in Google Password Manager to help remember account-related information or login details. These notes are used across all synced devices
  • Added "Find in Web Pages" feature to search for text in PDF documents and images
  • Introducing the Document Picture-In-Picture API, a mode that provides an always-on-top window that can be filled with arbitrary HTML elements. This may provide a richer video content experience or for other purposes
  • BYOB support for Fetch API

Another noteworthy adjustment is the abandonment of traditional third-party cookies to further promote its own "Privacy Sandbox". Google stated that the Privacy Sandbox program aims to develop technologies that can achieve the following goals: not only protect users' online privacy, but also provide companies and developers with tools to develop digital businesses, so that everyone can easily access open networks and applications.

Another noteworthy improvement is "one-time permissions". After a user visits a website, they can select "Allow this time" for a request for a function (such as location, camera, or microphone) initiated by the website.
