不过，也有不少网友提出疑问，Google 此举仅在新版的 Edge 浏览器中出现，却并未对同样基于 Chromium 的 Opera 用户发出相同的警告。对此，Google 拒绝置评。
针对此举，微软也通过 Edge 浏览器向用户做出“回应”。如果你是 Edge 用户，想要安装 Chrome Web Store 中的扩展程序，首先需要在 Edge 上手动“允许来自其他商店的扩展”，再者会有以下的免费声明，“从 Microsoft Store 以外的其他源安装的扩展未经验证，并且可能会影响浏览器性能。”
尽管如上图所示，微软提醒了用户第三方扩展商店的插件未经验证，且影响浏览器性能。但是这一则警告，却又显得是多余之举，毕竟无论在哪一款浏览器上安装任何扩展都会影响该款浏览器的性能。
而除了扩展商店外，Google 和微软两家也在浏览器搜索层面做了不少铺垫。
譬如，即使你正使用新版的 Edge 浏览器，并用微软的 Bing 搜索“ Chrome Web Store”，出现的第一条并非是“Chrome Web Store”网站推荐，而是微软自家的 Microsoft Edge 浏览器下载推荐。
倘若你继续下拉，找到 Google Chrome Web Store 官方链接进入之后，这意味着你已进入 Google 的环境中，现在就轮到 Google 发出警告，“您可能正在使用不安全的浏览器”。
其实，从微软的角度出发，在新版 Edge 浏览器中扶持 Microsoft Store，弥补生态短板，并建立一套可以保护浏览器的安全机制，完全没有问题。而 Google 也有捍卫自己应用商店中扩展程序安全性的权利。两家谁都没有错。且对于国内普通用户而言，神仙打架，雨女无瓜。
但是对于程序员这一群体而言，使用 Chrome 和做 Edge 适配的不在少数，两家的循环警告毫无疑问给身在其中的使用者带来了不少的困扰。且两家此举是否就能吸引更多的用户，以及影响到对方的市场份额，其实，倒也未必。
