A transmission delay (transmission delay)
When transmitting data, the data block into the node from the time required for the transmission medium.
It is counted from the first bit transmitted data frame, to the last bit of the frame transmission time needed to complete.
Second, the propagation delay
Electromagnetic wave propagating in a channel requires a certain distance and time spent.
Signaling rate (i.e. transmission rate) and the signal propagation rate channel are completely different concepts.
Third, the processing delay
Switch node performs the necessary processing time it takes to store and forward.
Fourth, the queuing delay
Node buffer queue queuing delays experienced by packets.
Queuing delay often depends on the length of traffic in the network at the time.
Fifth, the total delay
Is the total delay experienced by data transmission delay, propagation delay, processing delay and queuing delay and sum:
The total delay = delay transmission propagation delay + + + processing delay processing delay
