ROS Installation Guide (ROS Melodic + Ubuntu18.04)

This tutorial is to demonstrate how to install the ROS, the system used is Ubuntu 18.04 .

The following three parts:

1. Change apt source
2. Follow the installation tutorial ROS given official website
3. Test whether the installation is successful

1. Change apt source

Baidu search Tsinghua source , and then click the lower right corner of use help , and paddled to the bottom to find Ubuntu , this time page is shown:

Then we will copy the text edit box, press Ctrl+Alt+Tto open the terminal and type at the terminal sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.listto open the sources.listfile, delete the contents of the file, and copy the contents of just pasted in, and then enter in a terminal sudo apt-get update.

2. Follow the installation tutorial ROS given official website

Then we open the ROS installation tutorial , choose Ubuntuto wait after the page has loaded can follow the steps to complete the installation.

Step 1.1

I do not make 1.1 steps, but also the final installation was successful.

Step 1.2

In this step, you want to click on the Mirrorlink, select a domestic source after entering, to prevent the update is too slow. I chose the USTC this source.

Step 1.3 to 1.7

After completing Step 1.2, 1.3 to 1.7 steps need to be completed in accordance with the guidance of the page, but note that it is possible because the network reasons for updating slow, you can try using a mobile phone hot spot to improve.

3. Test whether the installation is successful

After completing the steps 1.1 to 1.7, if no other problems, so normal, you have successfully installed the ROS, let's run a simple program to test whether ROS installation was successful.

Open a terminal at the input terminal roscore, the main command sentence is to start ros core program.

Then a new terminal input rosrun turtle_sim turtlesim_node.

If successful, pop-up window above. congratulations! Prove that you have successfully installed the ROS.
