How to install Ubuntu in FFmpeg 4.2:
Unofficial PPA to Ubuntu 18.04 and its derivatives to build a package.
1. + Alt + T keyboard shortcut to open a terminal via Ctrl, or search for "terminal" from the application menu. When opened, the run command to add PPA:
Type the user's password (no asterisk feedback) when prompted, and then press Enter.
2. Then, you can upgrade FFmpeg library through software update (Update Manager) or run the command in a terminal:
After installation, you can check the software version of ffmpeg -version command
How to recover:
For whatever reason, you can clear the PPA by the following command to downgrade the stock FFmpeg version Ubuntu Universe repository:
