When you enable this feature, Chrome will let users select various settings to determine how to enforce the use of the dark mode browser theme on the site.

Various settings as follows:

  • Enabled (enabled)
  • Enabled with simple HSL-based inversion (using a simple reversal based HSL)
  • Enabled with simple CIELAB-based inversion (using a simple reversal based CIELAB)
  • Enabled with selective image inversion (selective image reversal)
  • Enabled with selective inversion of non-image elements (picture elements of the non-selective inversion)
  • Enabled with selective inversion of everything (selectively inverting all)

HSL and CIELAB settings use different algorithms to display color, which test results on some sites does not look too good, the color is slightly worse. Test results showed: the effect of reversing the non-selective picture elements looks best.
