Windows Terminal 0.3 release, a series of improvements and bug fixes

Microsoft is launching a multi-tabbed Windows Terminal v.0.3 console application preview version, it offers a range of improvements and bug fixes, including dragging the title bar, custom tab title and other functions.

Microsoft announced Windows Terminal was launched in June and in May 2019 the Build Developer Conference on an open source terminal application.

Windows Terminal contains all the advantages and PowerShell command prompt, and one of its main features is the ability to open multiple tabs, each tab support their shell. 

In Windows Terminal, you can run PowerShell, a command prompt and Linux terminal (such as Ubuntu), just a click you can switch between them. It also supports custom themes, styles, Unicode and so on.

The latest version of Windows Terminal provides an improved interface, you can drag from anywhere, but the drop zones are still restrictions on the right side, when you open more tabs, part will become smaller.

Microsoft has also improved the appearance of the title bar, and repaints the drop-down button. Microsoft said the drop-down button is now reserved the right time in the open, for faster access, and adjust the size of the button.

After updating the terminal, you can "minimize", "maximize" and "off" notes the new color on the button.

Accessibility

Windows Terminal gained some accessibility feature that allows tools such as Narrator inquiry, navigation and content reading terminal UI controls and text content. Now, by setting "tabTitle" attribute in the configuration file, users can change their own custom title for the tab. It should be noted that modify this setting will override the tab titles shell configuration file provided. Users can use the custom tab title features to distinguish profiles.

Additional background options

Now, you can add a background image to the WindowsTerminal screen, and you can still use acrylic colored background. To enable this feature, you must use the following attributes:

You can also use "backoundImageAlignment" key and  :"center""left"、 "top"、 "right"、 "bottom"、 "topLeft"、 "topRight"、 "bottomLeft"、 "bottomRight"

New Selection and Key Bindings

Now, the user can drag the mouse to the outer terminal window to continue to select the text above and below. After the latest update, be able to click to select a portion of text by double-clicking or three times.

Microsoft is adding key bindings for the OEM key ({} _ + - = | / ?: "; ') support, you can copy, copy the text without the use of line breaks, paste and copy tab provides key bind users will find these files in profiles.json settings file, by default, enable these settings file "keybindings" attribute.

Microsoft is updating documents related links section to help users begin to understand basic and advanced features of the terminal. It also includes a link to Github page.

BUG repair

The main contents are:

  • Now, if you use a real text editor GVIM (or any other prefer the "edit" verb instead of "open" verb text editor), you can open settings file
  • No longer filled pad scroll bar
  • Improved RTL text
  • Users will no longer emoticons long-running or other fancy text Unicode sequence to end
  • Now icon support environment variables

In Windows Terminal 0.3, the still can not see any open tab and navigate between them, is unclear when Microsoft plans to fix the user interface issues.
