Three models of cloud computing: public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud

Introduction

Cloud computing as a service delivered to the user rather than a product, in this service, computing resources, software and information daily as water, electricity delivered to the same computers and other computing media via the Internet. According to different business model, cloud computing may be divided into three categories: public cloud, private and hybrid clouds. These three models form the basis for building cloud infrastructure and consumption. This article is one of "Storage Basics" series, will introduce the concept and advantages of the three cloud computing models.

More information

Public cloud

Public cloud computing resources are provided for the public service. , Academic institutions or government agencies owned by a commercial organization, management and operation, deployed in public cloud service provider's premises. Users of cloud services via the Internet, pay or paid by way of subscription based on usage.

The advantages of the public cloud is a low cost, scalability is very good. The disadvantage is the lack of control over resources in the cloud, security security, network performance and data matching problems. Public cloud service providers have Amazon, Google and Microsoft. The figure below shows a cloud services for organizations and individuals to public clouds.

Private Cloud

In a private cloud model, cloud platform resources as a single organization dedicated contain multiple users. Private cloud by the organization, third party or a combination of both ownership, management and operations. Private cloud deployments may be in place within the organization, can also externally. Here are two private cloud implementation in the form of:

Internal ( ON-premise) private cloud : also referred to as internal cloud constructed by the organization in their data center, as shown in FIG. The form of limitations on the size and resources of scalability, but there is help standardize cloud service management processes and security. Organizations still have to bear the cost of capital and maintenance costs for the physical resources. This approach is suitable for applications that organizations need, platform configuration and security mechanisms full control.

External ( OFF-premise) Private cloud : This private cloud deployments outside the organization, by a third party organization responsible for the management. Third party organizations for private cloud environment, and to ensure privacy and confidentiality. The program inside private cloud relatively lower cost, and easier to expand the scale. Below is a typical external structure of FIG private cloud.

Hybrid Cloud

In hybrid mode, the cloud, the cloud platform consisting of two different modes (private or public) cloud platform formed. These platforms are still separate entities, but the use of standardized or proprietary technology binding, data and applications can be transplanted (e.g., equalization between different cloud platforms) to each other.

Hybrid cloud model, a secondary mechanism may be deployed applications and data to the public cloud full use on public cloud scalability and cost advantages. While mission-critical applications and data in a private cloud, and more secure. Below is an example of a hybrid cloud.
