ESC less garbled display problem

the reason:

These settings are color codes. Either you indicated by their less (e.g. by -R LESS environment provided as an option or R) colored or disable differences. Git default setting LESS = "FRX" if not LESS set has not been set in env. To make this fail, you must override the default value, such as setting or by using the command line options provided by your o in LESS.
