John 1:1-18 Amplified Bible (AMP)

The Deity of Jesus Christ
1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word ([a]Christ), and the Word was with God, and [b]the Word was God Himself. 2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. 3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. 4 In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines on in the [c]darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].
The Witness of John the Baptist
6 There came a man commissioned and sent from God, whose name was [d]John. 7 This man came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe [in Christ, the Light] through him. 8 John was not the Light, but came to testify about the Light.
9 There it was—the true Light [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] which, coming into the world, enlightens everyone. 10 He (Christ) was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11 He came to that which was His own [that which belonged to Him—His world, His creation, His possession], and those who were His own [people—the Jewish nation] did not receive and welcome Him. 12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— 13 who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].

The Word Made Flesh
14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception). 15 John testified [repeatedly] about Him and [e]has cried out [testifying officially for the record, with validity and relevance], “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me [f]has a higher rank than I and has priority over me, for He existed before me.’” 16 For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]. 17 For the Law was given through Moses, but grace [the unearned, undeserved favor of God] and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God [His essence, His divine nature] at any time; the [One and] only begotten God [that is, the unique Son] who is in the intimate presence of the Father, He has explained Him [and interpreted and revealed the awesome wonder of the Father].

John 1:1 In John the Apostle’s vision (Rev 19), he sees Christ returning as Warrior-Messiah-King, and “...His name is called The Word of God...and LORD OF LORDS.” (Rev 19:13, 16).
John 1:1 In this phrase, “God” appears first in the Greek word order, emphasizing the fact that “the Word” (Christ) was God—so “God Himself.”
John 1:5 I.e. the world immersed in sin: all that stands in opposition to God and biblical truth.
John 1:6 The births of both John the Baptist and Jesus were foretold by the angel, Gabriel (Luke 1:5-80). This passage is about John the Baptist, the son of Zacharias the priest and his wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was related to Mary the mother of Jesus (Luke 1:36). John the Baptist is considered to be the last of the OT prophets, and is not to be confused with John the Apostle who wrote this Gospel, three brief letters (1 John, 2 John, 3 John) and Revelation.
John 1:15 Here John the writer uses the Greek perfect tense (“has cried out”), emphasizing the truth and continuing importance of John the Baptist’s testimony.
John 1:15 Lit has become before (in front of) me, because He was first of me. The Greek is difficult because John the Baptist was making a word-play on the adverbs/adjective “after” (or “behind”), “before,” and “first.” The playful wording assumes the form of a riddle which, like some of Jesus’ parables, conceals the speaker’s meaning from those who are hostile toward him and have neither the patience nor the spiritual inclination to learn from him.

1 太初有道,道与 神同在,道就是 神。 2 这道太初与 神同在。 3 万物是藉著他造的;凡被造的,没有一样不是藉著他造的。 4 生命在他里头,这生命就是人的光。 5 光照在黑暗里,黑暗却不接受光。 6 有一个人,是从 神那里差来的,名叫约翰。 7 这人来,为要作见证,就是为光作见证,叫众人因他可以信。 8 他不是那光,乃是要为光作见证。 9 那光是真光,照亮一切生在世上的人。 10 他在世界,世界也是藉著他造的,世界却不认识他。 11 他到自己的地方来,自己的人倒不接待他。 12 凡接待他的,就是信他名的人,他就赐他们权柄作 神的儿女。 13 这等人不是从血气生的,不是从情欲生的,也不是从人意生的,乃是从 神生的。 14 道成了肉身,住在我们中间,充充满满地有恩典有真理。我们也见过他的荣光,正是父独生子的荣光。 15 约翰为他作见证,喊著说:「这就是我曾说:『那在我以后来的,反成了在我以前的,因他本来在我以前。』」 16 从他丰满的恩典里,我们都领受了,而且恩上加恩。 17 律法本是藉著摩西传的;恩典和真理都是由耶稣基督来的。 18 从来没有人看见 神,只有在父怀里的独生子将他表明出来。

一章一节从数个的角度逐步的指出了基督(道)全然的超然:从时间的角度(太初有道)、从与神的紧密关系的角度(道与神同在)、以及更进一步直接的指出了道的真正身份—祂就是神(道就是神)。

一章二节是将道与神的关系作进一步的描述(这道太初与神同在),这是要将道与其他万物的关系(一3-4)作一平衡的描述:道与神的关系(一2),以及道与万物的关系(一3-4)。道与神的关系是全然紧密的(一2),相对道与万物的关系也是紧密的:「万物是藉著祂造的」(一3),然而,极度难以置信的是,藉著祂而被造的却不接受祂(一5)。

World light rejected, Scripture repeatedly stressed (10, 11 a), the text points out three times around the world refuse to light: a 5: "Darkness does not accept light"; 10: "the world did not know Him"; 11: "own people did not accept Him"; however, the text also pointed out that some other people may react, is to accept the light, the more people accept the light to become children of God (a 12-13).

On the one hand the relationship with Christ is extremely close: "All things were made by him" (a 3-4), on the other hand people respond to Christ can have two: one light reject (a 10 -11); First light acceptance (a 12-13), and to become children of God. How would you choose? Choose to reject God, chose to accept God, and get the best blessing, is to become children of God?

That Christ is the true light, who can direct knowledge of God (1:18) through Christ. There are former John the Baptist testify about the light (a 7, 15), prove that Christ is the true light; the same, there are different today believers testify, everyone should be confirmed Christ is acceptable to God. Are you willing to through Christ, and thus to know God and become children of God?

Idea: people accept the light not only can become children of God, but also to join the ranks of the witness, just as John the Baptist, as testify about the light, to call other people did not believe the same can be the greatest blessing is that we can thoroughly Christ had direct knowledge of God (1:18), and become children of God (1: 12-13). Are you willing to be a witness who will introduce Christ to the unbelievers, so that they can get the best of good fortune?
