Wang Junhua, vice president of Alibaba Cloud and head of Alibaba Cloud Computing Platform Division, said in his opening speech that Alibaba Cloud and open source partners will continue to cooperate to give developers more flexible choices and continue to return technology to the open source community. Wang Feng reviewed the progress of Flink's core technology in 2023. The community has released two major versions, 1.17 and 1.18, in the past year, and has made great progress in several core technology areas: Streaming SQL continues to be improved; universal incremental Checkpoint is fully available; Flink Batch is available for production. Compared with version 1.18 The core performance of version 1.16 has been improved by 54%; a new paradigm of efficient elastic expansion and contraction has been achieved, and cloud native capabilities have been further improved; Flink and Paimon have formed a classic combination to accelerate the integration into the new Lakehouse architecture. These technological advances mark another solid step forward for Apache Flink as the de facto standard for real-time computing. Technological advancement has also brought significant added business value to users from all walks of life. As a representative of large-scale application practice, Shi Hefu, head of the basic R&D department of Caocao Travel, shared that the proportion of real-time computing resources in Caocao Travel has increased from 20% to 50%, and is widely used in many real-time applications such as executive decision-making and front-line operations. In the business, it brings about 60% increase in subsidy efficiency and 20% increase in driver efficiency.
Li Jinsong, head of intelligent open source table storage at Alibaba Cloud, Founder of Paimon, and member of Flink PMC, joined guests from Tongcheng Travel, Autohome, and China Unicom Digital Technology Co., Ltd. to share the application practice of how to build Streaming Lakehouse based on Flink + Paimon, as well as the selection of Business benefits brought by the golden combination of Flink + Paimon.
Wu Chong, head of Alibaba Cloud Intelligent Flink SQL and Flink CDC, and guests from the Dataworks team and Himalaya officially released Flink CDC 3.0 in the topic "Next Station of Flink CDC". Flink CDC 3.0 adopts a new architectural design and is positioned as an end-to-end real-time data integration framework with a minimalist development experience. Flink CDC will also start the next stop on its open source journey: donating to Apache Flink and the Apache Foundation.
In the topic "The Next Generation of Apache Flink", Song Xintong, Alibaba Cloud Intelligent Flink Distributed Execution Manager, Apache Flink PMC member, and Flink 2.0 Release Manager, shared the Apache Flink community's next year, Streaming, Batch-Streaming Unification, and Experience Improvements. Big technical direction planning. And announced the preparation timetable for Flink 2.0 version, which is expected to be released in October next year.
