background
VMware16 installed an Ubuntu20.04, used bridge mode to connect to the network separately, and then connected to the agent of the host machine in the same LAN. It has been working before, but today after turning on the computer, the problem "Connection failed: Activation of network connection failed" suddenly appeared. The network connection icon also changed into a hollow "pin" shape with three small black dots in the middle. (Forgot to take a screenshot)
solution
I tried restarting the network in ubuntu first sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager.service
to no avail.
Restarted ubuntu several times, to no avail.
The final method is to shut down the virtual machine and restore the default settings in VMware编辑-->虚拟网络编辑器
(you need to click "Change Settings" above the "Help" button to give administrator rights )
Then right-click to open the host network connection and "Open 'Network and Internet' Settings", click "Change Adapter Options"
and then set the network card used by VMware Just check VMware Bridge Protocol
illustrate
- Since I'm using bridge mode, it doesn't matter if I check it.
- I'm too lazy to analyze which network card is used for bridging, so I just selected all three network cards.
- Just restoring the default virtual network adapter settings should solve most of the problems (?). I don’t know if the problem is solved after checking it~
