Solve the problem that the virtual machine cannot recognize the USB disk device by repairing the VMware software

        When developing the Windows 11 system, I encountered the following problem when I wanted to copy files from a USB flash drive to a virtual machine (Ubuntu): the virtual machine could not recognize the USB flash drive device, and the UI for the USB flash drive device could not be found in the lower right corner of the virtual machine. icon, open the virtual machine settings, remove and add USB controllers and try to restart the virtual machine USB service, but the problem cannot be solved. After finally repairing the virtual machine, restarting the service solved the problem. The operation is as follows.

          1. Use win+R to open the running window of the PC. Enter services.msc and enter to open the service window of the PC. Find the VMware USB Arbitration Service and click to start the service. If the service can be started directly, restart the virtual machine and check whether the USB device can be recognized normally. If you encounter the situation in the following picture then proceed to the next step.

        1. When restarting the VMware USB Arbitration Service, I encountered the prompt "Error 2: The system cannot find the specified file." This problem is most likely caused by not uninstalling the previously installed virtual machine before installing the virtual machine. This problem In this case, you need to repair the virtual machine again. Here are two ways to repair the virtual machine.

        Repair by installing the package:

        1. Repair through the installation package file of the VMware Workstation software. Find the installation package file of the VMware Workstation software you installed, right-click ->Run as administrator->Enter the installation wizard->Click Next.

          2. Select Repair and go to the next step.

          3. Click Repair, and then follow the wizard prompts until the repair is completed.

        4. After the repair is completed, use win+R to open the running window of the PC. Enter services.msc and enter to open the service window of the PC. Find the VMware USB Arbitration Service and click to start the service. At this time, error 2 will no longer be prompted. Restart the virtual machine and open the virtual machine again. The USB disk can now be recognized.

        Repair through the program in the control panel (window11 system) (you may encounter the problem of insufficient permissions):

        1. Open the PC’s Control Panel->Select Uninstall a program

            2. Find VMware Workstation->Right-click to change and enter the installation wizard

         3. Click Next

         4. Click Repair. After the repair is completed, restart and open the virtual machine to recognize the USB flash drive device normally.

         5. However, insufficient permissions may occur when repairing here. Halfway through the repair, a file writing error will be prompted, and permissions must be confirmed. At this time, the repair can only be done through the installation package.

        At this point, the virtual machine can recognize the USB disk device.
