ONLYOFFICE open source office suite has launched the latest version of its online editor, with multiple enhancements throughout the suite. Read on to find out all the updates.
New PDF editor
PDF is a very common file format at work. We often need to open brochures in various PDF formats, sign agreements and contracts, etc.
The ONLYOFFICE team has always remembered this and has been developing native PDF editing tools to facilitate thousands of users. Now, the ONLYOFFICE team has launched the first version of the PDF editor, which supports functions such as annotation (including text highlighting, underlining and strikethrough), form filling, commenting and drawing .
In the next version, they will also add collaborative editing capabilities.
New features in Docs Editor
Automatic hyphenation . As requested by several users, especially those from the education field, an auto-hyphenation option has been added to text documents. With this feature enabled, you won't have to manually hyphenate words at the end of lines when writing a document: when you change the margins, words will be automatically hyphenated where needed.
In the Hyphenation settings, you can activate the option "Hyphenate words in all capital letters", define a hyphenation zone, and set a limit on the number of consecutive hyphenations (if necessary).

Smart paragraph selection . If this setting is enabled and an entire paragraph (but no paragraph symbol) is selected, the symbol is automatically added to the selected section.

Remove content controls when editing . When you enable and change the content of an inserted control element, the control itself is automatically deleted, but its content is retained. The situation is the same when manually clicking on the "Remove Content Controls" option.

New features for spreadsheets
Preserving the applied CSV delimiter is also a very common request from ONLYOFFICE users. Now it's coming! When you open a CSV file, the last selected settings (delimiters and encoding) are saved in local storage so you don't have to make changes each time.
Page break . Insert page breaks to easily separate your worksheet into separate pages for printing.

Shows the relationship between formulas and cells. To examine formulas, you can use the Trace Reference Cells and Trace Dependent Cells options, which graphically display and trace the relationship between these cells and formulas by tracing arrows.

Add images to headers and footers . Customize the top and bottom borders of your spreadsheet by adding images, logos, and more.

Improved pivot tables . You can format numbers through Field Settings in version 7.5. Additionally, there is a "Show Details" option in the context menu of a PivotTable report, which you can also enable by double-clicking a PivotTable cell.
Drag and drop . You can now use drag-and-drop to move rows and columns within your spreadsheet.
Additionally, added to the spreadsheet:
- SORTBY function;
- "Show formula" option to display the formula in each cell instead of the resulting value;
- Filter by date;
- Autofill days of the week and month;
- Ability to adjust printed margins using presets.
New features for presentations
The ONLYOFFICE team has redesigned the presentation editor colors. Since ONLYOFFICE now has a PDF editor, their colors need to be distinguished. Hope you all like the new color!
Deformation. Welcome to a new transition that allows you to animate and move smoothly from one slide to the next. You can apply it to objects, words, and letters.
You can also set the names of objects on the slide in this transition type to match objects such as shapes and pictures on adjacent slides.

Updates to header / footer settings : now adjustable via two sections - Slides, Notes & Handouts. This way, it's easier to arrange corresponding elements in your presentation.

In addition, the following features have been added to the presentation editor:
- You can select the starting slide number;
- Add SmartArt via placeholders on slides;
- Tips for slide placeholders.
Accessibility : Screen reader _
ONLYOFFICE has launched a screen reader function in BETA mode, which can be used in all editors. They facilitate the work of blind or visually impaired users by presenting actions in the editor as speech output.
