Python 3.13.0 released alpha 1

The first alpha of Python 3.13.0 has been released and is currently in the very early stages of development.

Python 3.13 a1 released this time is the first of seven alpha versions planned to be released.

Alpha releases are made to make it easier to test new features, fix bugs, and test the release process. Please note that this is a preview release and is not recommended for use in production environments.

Many new features for Python 3.13 are still being planned and written - including the much-talked-about no-GIL . By far the most significant change is that many features have been marked as deprecated, most of which are scheduled to be removed in Python 3.15 or 3.16.

The next updated version of Python 3.13 is 3.13.0a2, which is currently scheduled to be released on 2023-11-21.

For details, check the Python 3.13 release schedule (will be officially released on October 1 next year): https://peps.python.org/pep-0719/ .
