What is Power BI PPU
Before understanding Power BI Premium Per User (hereinafter referred to as Power BI PPU), let's first take a look at the License we are familiar with.
- Power BI Free.
- Power BI Pro.
- Power BI Premium.
We know that Power BI Free is for individuals. It is free. You can publish reports, but you cannot create new spaces and collaborate with colleagues. Power BI Pro allows users to share reports with each other, create apps, and supports incremental refresh. As well as new features such as R visualization, it is aimed at organizations or enterprises, but is priced on an individual basis and is cheap (only about $10 per user per month), while Power BI Premium is different from the first two in that it is geared towards the entire organization and includes Power On the premise of all the features of BI Pro, there are several more advanced features, such as deployment pipelines, XMLA endpoints, etc., but it is priced based on capacity (actually configuration) and is charged on a monthly basis, which is relatively expensive.
As a result, we can find that a considerable number of groups will face embarrassing choices. They hope to have most of the features of Power BI Premium, but are limited by the size of the organization and budget, and cannot afford the high price of the license. In this case, Power BI PPU was born.
Power BI PPU is the personal version of Power BI Premium. You can also think of it as integrating the low cost of Pro and the high features of Premium. Combining the information provided by relevant documents, I compiled the following table to show the differences between them. Specific differences:
Judging from the above table, although the Premium Personal Edition does not have all the features of Premium, compared to Pro, it supports almost all the most critical features, such as deployment pipelines, paging reports, and even supports more advanced AI analysis and XMLA endpoints, which are crucial for developers, already include all the core values of Premium except computing power.

Note: If you have subscribed to Microsoft 365, the administrator can also enable the PPU trial; for free users whose trial of Power BI Pro has expired, you need to upgrade to Pro first.

At present, the Power BI Premium Personal Edition is still in the public preview stage, and the pricing has not yet been announced.
