Preface
The cluster was built earlier and the account and password were configured to log in. Now configure the domain name login of k8s dashboard. In this way, when restarting k8s, you don’t have to look at the port. You can access it directly through the domain name according to the port access.
1. Install ingress
Here is the data flow direction
client—> ingresscontroller service (default deployment method of loadbalance deployment method) –> dashboard service (nodeport deployment method)
1.1 Download ingress deployment file
From version matching, select the ingresscontrol that adapts to your own k8s version. My k8s version is 1.21.10. As shown in the picture above, the matching version is 1.3.1. Download this version.
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kubernetes/ingress-nginx/controller-v1.3.1/deploy/static/provider/cloud/deploy.yaml
mv deploy.yaml ingress-nginx-controller.yaml
kubectl apply -f ingress-nginx-controller.yaml
The ingress-nginx-contraller.yaml here needs to be replaced with the image, and github cannot access it.
registry.k8s.io/ingress-nginx/controller:v1.3.1@sha256:54f7fe2c6c5a9db9a0ebf1131797109bb7a4d91f56b9b362bde2abd237dd1974
Replace with
k8s.dockerproxy.com/ingress-nginx/controller:v1.3.1@sha256:54f7fe2c6c5a9db9a0ebf1131797109bb7a4d91f56b9b362bde2abd237dd1974
registry.k8s.io/ingress-nginx/kube-webhook-certgen:v1.3.0@sha256:549e71a6ca248c5abd51cdb73dbc3083df62cf92ed5e6147c780e30f7e007a47
Replace with
k8s.dockerproxy.com/ingress-nginx/kube-webhook-certgen:v1.3.0@sha256:549e71a6ca248c5abd51cdb73dbc3083df62cf92ed5e6147c780e30f7e007a47
There are three places that need to be replaced, control1 and certgen2.
Modify the copy of the deployment of ingress-controller to 1. The main reason for the change here is that I want to control the ingress-controller to generate a pod container, and on the master node, this can control the traffic entrance, and you can also choose to deploy it on each node. I won't show that method here.
Label the master node to facilitate identification of the master node
kubectl label nodes hadoop1 nginx=nginx
kubectl get nodes --show-labels
replicas: 1
Here we also need to modify the node node selection as the master node.
The entire file is modified as follows

Install ingress-nginx
kubectl apply -f ingress-nginx-contraller.yaml
1.2 Check whether the installation is successful
kubectl get pod -n ingress-nginx -owide
kubectl get pod,svc,ing,deploy -n ingress-nginx
It is found that the three pods with the namespace of ingress-nginx have been completed successfully, and the two pods with the status of completed are job type resources. Completed means that the job has been executed successfully and there is no need to worry about it. Check the port
occupancy
sudo netstat -tlnp | grep 80
As you can see, 443 and 80 are all occupied. Here is the controller occupied, exposing external services.
2. Configure dashboard domain name mapping
2.1. Add domain name mapping to windows and linux
192.168.184.129 is the physical machine IP of the master node, which is the machine where the ingress-controller is deployed.
Add the hosts file of c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
192.168.184.129 k8s.dashboard.com
Refresh host file
ipconfig /flushdns
Linux also adds the hosts file in the /etc/ path.
192.168.184.129 k8s.dashboard.com
2.2 Generate tls certificate
openssl genpkey -algorithm RSA -out private.key
openssl req -new -key private.key -out csr.csr
When producing the csr file, you will be asked to enter the region, country, etc. Just enter it as required.
The content of the san.cnf file is as follows
ions = v3_req
distinguished_name = req_distinguished_name
[req_distinguished_name]
[v3_req]
subjectAltName = @alt_names
[alt_names]
DNS.1 = k8s.dashboard.com
DNS.2 = www.k8s.dashboard.com
openssl x509 -req -in csr.csr -signkey private.key -out certificate.crt -extfile san.cnf -extensions v3_req -days 9999
After execution, the following files are generated
and the certificate is imported into k8s.
kubectl create secret tls dashboard-secret --key private.key --cert certificate.crt -n kubernetes-dashboard
-n refers to the namespace, which is the namespace of the dashboard. This error will cause the key to not be found, so be careful.
2.3 New ingress configuration
The ingress configuration here can be understood as nginx configuration. Through this configuration, ingress-controller will dynamically generate the nginx configuration and make it effective.
apiVersion: networking.k8s.io/v1
kind: Ingress
metadata:
name: kubernetes-dashboard-ingress
annotations:
nginx.ingress.kubernetes.io/ssl-redirect: "true"
nginx.ingress.kubernetes.io/ssl-passthrough: "true"
nginx.ingress.kubernetes.io/backend-protocol: "HTTPS"
namespace: kubernetes-dashboard
spec:
ingressClassName: nginx
tls:
- hosts:
- k8s.dashboard.com
secretName: dashboard-secret
rules:
- host: "k8s.dashboard.com"
http:
paths:
- path: /
pathType: Prefix
backend:
service:
name: kubernetes-dashboard
port:
number: 443
namespace: kubernetes-dashboard configuration is consistent with the namespace of the kubernetes-dashboard service.
Here nginx.ingress.kubernetes.io/backend-protocol: "HTTPS" configuration must be added, otherwise, ingress-controller will report an error as follows
2023/09/11 02:07:11 [error] 576#576: *19298 recv() failed (104: Connection reset by peer) while sending to client, client: 192.168.184.1, server: k8s.dashboard.com, request: "GET / HTTP/2.0", upstream: "http://10.244.241.154:8443/", host: "k8s.dashboard.com"
The deployment method of my dashbord is the nodeport method. If the ingress method is configured, you can log in in two ways: 1 ip: nodeport 2. Domain name. You can use the first method to check whether your nodeport is running normally, which is suitable for troubleshooting problems.
kubectl get svc --all-namespaces
Execute ingress configuration
kubectl apply -f ingress-dashboard.yaml
View ingress
kubectl get ingress -A
2.3 Verification
Enter on browser
https://k8s.dashboard.com/
You can see that you have entered the k8s management interface.
Summarize
At this point, the domain name login of the ks8 management interface has been completed. The points to be noted are summarized as follows: 1. The
k8s version and the ingress version must match. I did not get it right for several days because of this, which was a waste of time.
2. The deployment method of ingress-controller is lb, and the dashboard is nodeport. This actually has little impact. I always thought it would have a relevant impact. This is an unnecessary concern.
3. The generation of tls certificate is different from that commonly used on the Internet. It may be because the version of ingress-controller is higher and needs to be generated with san. Otherwise, there will be an error that the key cannot be found.
