What is VOSviewer?
VOSviewer is an effective tool specially developed by relevant researchers from the CWTS Research Institute of Leiden University for drawing scientific knowledge maps. It can realize the visualization of knowledge units in label view, density view, cluster view and dispersed view.
What is Overlay visualization label view
A label view can be identical to a cluster view, except that the items are colored differently. There are two ways to colorize in overlay visualizations. If
the item has a score, the color of the item will be determined by the item's score, which by default ranges from blue (lowest) to green to yellow (highest). On the other hand, if the item has a user-defined color, the color of the item is determined by the user-defined item color. If the item has neither a score nor a user-defined color, the label view will not be available
The image below shows an example of a label view. A color bar appears in the lower right corner of the visualization. The color bar is only displayed when the color is determined by the item score. The color bar represents how scores are mapped to colors. In the overlay visualization shown in Figure 3, the colors represent the journal’s impact factors. For example, blue journals have an impact factor below 1, green journals have an impact factor around 2, and yellow journals have an impact factor of 3 or higher.
