My 20 years: From a code farmer with a monthly salary of 4,000 to a technology company owner...

Three more years have passed since the first publication of "How to Cultivation of Technical People". In the past three years, we have experienced the raging epidemic, the war between Ukraine and Russia, and the trade friction between China and the United States. Everyone's life has changed to some extent.

Time always makes people grow, but never points out the direction. The people we meet, the things we experience, the books we read, and the truths we gradually understand, these bits and pieces make us who we are today.

In the past three years, I have also experienced many unforgettable things. For example, in June 2019, I founded the public account "Technical Leadership", which gained hundreds of thousands of readers in just a few years. I am honored to be a special support media for Wu Xiaobo and Liu Run's annual speeches, and participated in the online live broadcast of Chen Chunhua and Jiang Nanchun's new book launch. This small personal public account has developed into an influential media in the IT field.

For another example, I ended my 20-year working career in September 2022 and founded the "Sudden Enlightenment Hill" consulting brand to provide digital transformation consulting services to many listed companies and Fortune 500 companies. I also worked as a senior executive of a listed company. He turned around and became the boss of a digital technology company.

Friends joke that I am a "walking programmer's career development history", and I have completely experienced the transformation from programmer to technical manager, technical director, technical VP, CTO, company boss and other roles. These experiences gave me a new understanding of the growth of technical people, so I sorted out my own growth insights again, and came up with the second edition of "The Way of Cultivation of Technical People".

In this edition, 17 chapters have been added and 8 sections have been deleted. The entire book is about 180,000 words. The added content includes:

  • How to use "life design" to break through bottlenecks in the workplace and reach the peak of your career

  • Use "competitive strategies" to build your "career development system"

  • Develop a personal "development strategy" and become the CEO of your own company

  • Use "model thinking" to think on the shoulders of talented people

  • Achieve high performance in the workplace through "deep thinking"

  • Have the ability to "think independently" and avoid becoming a "rabble"

  • Cultivate a "growth mindset", lifelong learning, and welcome the BANI era

  • Master “WOOP thinking” and let you do what you say

  • Learn "energy management" and save "cognitive energy" like a master

  • Refine your "transferable skills" and become a cross-border master

  • How to stay at your peak and overcome burnout?

  • "Light Entrepreneurship" and "Lean Entrepreneurship" suitable for professionals

……

I hope this book can become a "personal growth scaffolding" for every technical practitioner, from basic cognition in the workplace to ways of thinking, communication and expression, efficient action, innovation, team management, business thinking, etc., to make up for their own shortcomings. Cognitive blind spots and shortcomings in improving abilities.

At the same time, I also hope that readers will regard this book as a thinking framework rather than the only answer to the question. When you encounter personal growth confusion and career development issues, this book can give you guidance in the direction, because as an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience, I have experienced things that you have never experienced or are currently experiencing. My experience and lessons can help you avoid detours and seize every crucial career development opportunity.

If possible, I hope that the third and fourth editions can be released in the future to continue to bring you practice and insights on the individual growth of technical people.

I still look forward to the corrections, supervision, and guidance of my seniors, colleagues, and readers.

It's the order.
