AIX hot add FcOE card

1. Operating environment

HMC version: V7R7.3.0.1
Operating system: AIX:6100-09-06-1543
Host: IBM POWER7 750 8233-E8B (with #5802 #5877 expansion cabinet)

2. Task

3. Operation

3.1 Check compatibility

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/8233-E8B/p7hcd/fc5708_fcoe.htm

The adapter is supported on the following versions of the operating systems:

AIX®
AIX Version 7.1 with Service Pack 3, or later
AIX Version 6.1 with the 6100-06 Technology Level, and Service Pack 5, or later
AIX Version 5.3 with the 5300-12 Technology Level and Service Pack 4, or later

Linux
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6 for POWER®, or later
Novel SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Service Pack 4, or later

VIOS
VIOS support requires VIOS 2.2.0.12-FP24 SP02, or later

3.2 Configure DLPAR

If dlpar has already been configured, you can skip this step. If not, perform the following operations:
1. In the partition of the POWER host, modify the /etc/hosts file and add the IP and hostname information of the hmc
. 2. Ensure that the partition and HMC can ping each other.

3.3 Hot-adding boards in HMC

Manually add the FcOE board according to the vacant slot at the back of the machine. After confirming that everything is correct, proceed as follows:

Check the corresponding partition in HMC and select:

3.4 AIX, add hot-swappable card to diag

# diag
Task Selection (Diagnostics, Advanced Diagnostics, Service Aids, etc.)
	  	  Hot Plug Task
	  	      PCI Hot Plug Manager
Add a PCI Hot Plug Adapter
	  	          	  选择识别到的新槽位
	  	          	  	    新窗口中,根据系统提示,两次回车
	  	          	  	          当显示操作成功时,退出diag界面。
# cfgmgr
# lsdev -Cc adapter

Enter twice to execute

4.Add solutions to failed or unrecognized problems

The reason why I cannot identify the board is that the system has many defined devices, which occupy the slot information of the system. As a result, the system cannot recognize the newly added board device.
Just delete all defined devices to successfully add them
