Many software can only be installed by default, and the installation path cannot be selected. They can only be installed under the C drive.
This article explains how to change the default installation location of software in Windows.
First win + R
open the run window by , and then enter to regedit
open the registry editor.
Paste in the path box at the top 计算机\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
, or find the corresponding folder in the left menu bar according to the path.
There are four values that may need to be changed here: CommonFilesDir
, CommonFilesDir (x86)
, ProgramFilesDir
, ProgramFilesDir (x86)
different The installation path in the registry when the software is installed is also different. You may not be able to view the source code, but you can get the installation path of the software from the prompt information during the installation process.
For example: the installation path of a certain software is C:\Program Files\xxx\xxx
. From that we can work out what value the software is likely to get ProgramFilesDir
, so just double-click on that item and make changes.
The figure below C:\Program Files
changes the default installation path toD:\Program Files
Install the software again and it will be installed D:\Program Files
in the directory.
